Disney+ really is minimalistic, but to an absurd degree! I pause it, and it doesn't even show how much time is left, or any information, or anything.

And the worst thing is that I can't figure out how to show the captions, which I REALLY want! In one settings screen, it says they're already on, but they're not, and I read something about how to set them for a Samsung TV, but it didn't even show me the right options. Something else said to press the * key, which I don't even have on my remote control. Then something else said to go into the profile settings, but when I try to look into the profile, all it does is select it but doesn't give me any options or anything. Could someone please tell me exactly step-by-step how to enable the captions for everything that I show on Disney+?

I can tell you how it works on my system, which is a firestick solution, it may or may not work for you.

Press the downward arrow on your remote during playback.
This should allow you to press the downward arrow again to be able to scroll left and right.
You should be able to scroll right to settings which opens a new screen where you should be able to scroll right to subtitles.

By scroll I mean use directional arrows.

If you press pause and press down you should also see the options detailed above.

Hope it works for you.
Have you tried opening on your PC, maybe you can set your preferences from there?

On both the smart TV and PC app i have the captions options available from the pause menu
lazydog, I think your interface is very different than mine, and I'm using a smart TV, but no other special hardware.

Mr. Zim, I'm not really sure how to get to in on my PC, but when I pause, literally all I see is a pause icon at the bottom of the screen and a frozen image. It doesn't even show the duration of the show or how far into it I am (which is also an annoying limitation). And I don't know why I can't get into the profile settings and stuff.

Are there any directional buttons or a radial button on your remote?

It should simply be a case of pressing pause and then pressing whatever button equates to down on the remote.
That actually worked! I have no idea how or why, but it did! I mean, who ever heard of pressing the down direction to show information? What kind of idiot designed that completely unintuitive interface? What the balls is that about? And for that matter, why didn't any of the instructions I looked up mention anything about it?! They all gave wrong instructions! I wouldn't have figured out to do that if I'd tried for a trillion years!!!

It's Disney. "What the hell were they thinking" is a normal reaction.
(*^_^*)
Well, fair enough, but I'd think there would at least be a manual or some kind of instructions to tell people how to do that! Did everyone else really just figure it out, or does nobody ever adjust the settings, because they don't know how?

I was much like yourself- unhappy that there was no info on the pause screen.

There aren't many buttons on my remote so I just kept pressing other buttons til I got a result!

Anyway, glad you got it sorted.
