Now that we have the Arkham games here, how about some Spider Man? Especially Shattered Dimensions.

Kyousuke.: Seems like an update released on steam for arkham knight that other than removing denuvo, added two free outfits: Anime & Zur En Arrh.

Now I do wonder if we received them either through a new updated or were included already. If anyone would be so kind to check this, it would be really appreciated.

So we are indeed missing those newely added costumes, darn it.

Thanks for the link though.

Awesome @ WB removing Denuvo from Steam-version.

We need MORE of that to happen on a regular basis on Steam; with games that use Denuvo over there removing it.

I hope Batman AK Steam-version doesn't need Steam running in the background now just to run now, especially since there are Epic and GOG versions they don't have DRM attached.

Well seems like you are in a treat, as it seems that it has gone completely drm-free, good for them.

Now if only we could get the outfits here as well...

Wait... So you are saying Steam running in the bckg is now not required on Arkham Knight Steam version?
If that's for real - how does it work - does it work ootb or do you need to craft appid file first?

You got me for ten solids seconds there on "ootb" until I realized that it was out of the box (...it's that one, right?)

EDIT: seems like he didn't check enough, on a second check he said that the steam client is still needed for the game to recognize dlc, so you have to resort to a steam emu when the client is closed (or if you unistalled it).

So yeah, the GOG version is still the best as far drm-free can go.

Right. Out of the box. What did you think it was? :P I'm genuinely curious.

I do own Arkham Knight on Steam but I will not be able to check this for at least 1,5 week (slow AF internet, plus things to do beforehand, plus I use Linux so testing this would be more complicated to a degree).

If by emu you mean goldberg then I dunno if it would require custom config or just work ootb atm.

Btw, may I ask what your profile pic is from? It gives me Tokyo Ghoul vibes ;)

Not being a native english speaker, trust me that some acronyms can get you stuck, especially if your primary language doesn't use them in the first place, so I had to think for a bit before getting what you meant . ;)

I didn't speak about one in particular, everything can do fine as long you know how to configure and use it; I don't have it on steam so I can't make any tests from that.

Good question, albeit I can't properly answer it, unfortunately: I'm using this one picutre for over 15 years after randomly finding it. Still, MAYBE it is coming from an old manga called angel sanctuary.
Did WB really remove Denuvo off the steam version? If so, finally. Gives hope for them ditching it on Mad Max someday. Wouldn't mind seeing it show up here either.

Yeah they did, it works also without steam running in the background, but you cannot access the dlc because the steam api handles them.
Still that aside, the removal of denuvo in general is a good thing.
So I know I should put this in the subforum but figured it might get more eyes here...

Picked up Arkham Knight during the release and just fired it up - it's awesome... but a little overwhelming. Seriously just moving through the various screens, selecting / figuring out gear and getting the controls under control is a bit much for me.

Any pointers? Should I focus on the main story and learn the game as I play? Is there anything about the game I should know right off that I might miss? Do I just suck it up, play and see what happens?

But yeah, really cool game I'm just worried I might miss certain stuff because I'm drowning in the interface. Even the combos make my head spin - or will it all start to come naturally after I get used to it?

Also, I get little "blurbs" saying there's a riot, or hear criminals talk about "things" - should I be responding to these? How do I find their source? Detective mode? What should I be looking for?

Oh and the tightrope - super cool idea - but do I need it selected as my gadget before I can use it in flight? Or can I just hold the button (I think one of the thumbsticks?) and it fires off?

Thanks!
It's been a long tie since I played the game, but I here's my answers to your questions:

Ixamyakxim: Any pointers? Should I focus on the main story and learn the game as I play? Is there anything about the game I should know right off that I might miss? Do I just suck it up, play and see what happens?
Well there's a lot of side stuff to do in this game. One thing you should know is that the true ending is only accessed if you complete everything in the game, including the Riddler trophies.

If you like the game and don't get bore easily, I'd say go for it. Do some main story missions to move the game forward, then do some side stuff, and so on. Try to balance, so you don't get fed up of one or another.

avatar
Ixamyakxim: But yeah, really cool game I'm just worried I might miss certain stuff because I'm drowning in the interface. Even the combos make my head spin - or will it all start to come naturally after I get used to it?
For me it was natural, since I played the previous games. Like any other game, it might take some time to get used to it. I think the more you play, the more comfortable you will feel.

avatar
Ixamyakxim: Also, I get little "blurbs" saying there's a riot, or hear criminals talk about "things" - should I be responding to these? How do I find their source? Detective mode? What should I be looking for?
Yeah, I think detective mode is what you need to use. However, If I remember correctly, these riots are not important, nor considered side stuff necessary for the true ending, so you can ignore it (not truly sure, though).

You mean the grappling gun that enables you to move through the city? If it's that, then no. While gliding you just need to look to the building you want to grapple to, then the reticle appears and you just have to press the corresponding button to grapple.

Thanks for this! I'm going to put in a bit more time tonight - been playing too many turn based games and it's been too long since I played City I think ;) Out of practice.

The grapple thing I meant was the one that the menu interface says shoots a "tightrope" while flying, that lets you perch anywhere (? I think?). I'll much around with it tonight to see what I was doing wrong. Gadget interface seems a bit wonky to me but I think I just haven't used it correctly yet.

Game does seem awesome though - I was searching for this thread so I could post and saw the old threads from PC release - hard to believe a AAA game was pulled from Steam!

Anyone on the fence because of the old performance issues - I wouldn't worry. I only play on 1080P but with a fairly aging computer and it looks / runs great.
