GOG.com: ...
I don't want the games myself but my message remains less curation so I don't mind them being here. We should have the "Hide porn" option in catalog though.

I was going to call the account somebody's "alt" but it does actually own games.

Frostyfirefly: I keep hearing how Saya no Uta is such a good VN, but I like it more when the main character ends up with a MILF or oneesan type of character. If those choices are available within the game, I'm definitely in!
Don't think that happens. The protagonist has a broken brain, where all beings except Saya look like walking piles of raw meat. This one is horror lovecraftian, madness is likely the only form of happiness to be found.

Great, bought and bought, like VenusBlood games. Now get Demonbane and Eiyu Senki over here.

Seryuu: If you are talking about the 18+ version, then no, nothing was censored in it.
About the reference, I haven't worked on this one, so not sure. But was that ever reported to official channels? I will look into it.
That alone puts you way ahead of most other Japanese game publishers, heh. Say, any chance of seeing Phantom of Inferno here, preferably not in that godawful DVD-player format?

omega64: Out of curiosity, is Song of Saya the censored version Steam has or the uncensored one? I'll get it either way.
avatar
ion00: Is Saya no Uta uncensored?
The version here is uncensored.

Did some searching around. The steam version needs a paid DLC on jastusa called The official Director's Cut DLC
The version on GOG is the director's cut. So already included.

Can't really say much on that, but we would love to release all the Nitro+ games, and there may be some news soon.

Cool, I can wait. Let it be known you have loyal customers here as long as you keep delivering well-translated, uncut and uncensored games. Good job and good luck.

This has been discussed in other topics but I think it can be crystallized again here. The issue with such an option is that these games are not so clear-cut.

Take for example the post immediately after yours which describes one of today's releases:

The protagonist has a broken brain, where all beings except Saya look like walking piles of raw meat. This one is horror lovecraftian, madness is likely the only form of happiness to be found.
This description certainly does not fit a traditional idea of "mindless titillation" or whatever other such terms by which people tend to categorize and dismiss "porn." In fact it sounds like this game and perhaps Dead End Aegis too are meant as serious artistic pieces, which so happen to have adult content as key part of their effect. Other adult games here such as VenusBlood have lots of strategy or other such gameplay.

How much adult content before it is considered "porn" becomes the question and I don't see how there would be an easy to answer to that. To hide simply "mature content" would encapsulate several other games sold here which people do not say are "porn." For example, should The Witcher games be included in a "Hide porn" filter? Not everything with nudity is "porn," but would a "No Nudity" filter perhaps be the most accurate compromise?

I can't say I am surprised that this directional change on GOG and JAST alike is received with mixed results, but as a long time supporter and former helping staff I'm impressed that what I have thought impossible or a pipe dream in the past to become finally reality. GoG is helping with the distribution of 18+ content titles. Back years ago when MangoGamer and SekaiProject already had managed to transmigrate some of their titles here I was already elated, but now I am conviinced that GoG is a great ally in our struggles against the wonky content blockades on Steam.

I can only hope thatn JAST isn't the exclusive publisher to mirror some of their store here because if more if not all of the major VN and Erogepublishers + power houses like Critical Bliss bring some of their titles here, they will surely boost in visibilty like crazy and contribute to the proliferation and the dream of making VNs popular in the west at large.

I see a bright future here, only to be stopped by militant groups who band together to report this to authorities for sake of protecting the youth - ending up in a passport check or other authentification methods. In the end I also believe that even if that were the case GOG might be more willing to negotiate such a measure more than Valve would do. I support VNs on GoG wholeheartedly.

For a bright 2022, fellow friends

Edit:
The solution is simple: Tag games appropriately and give people the option to completely unsee the tags they toggled off.

I thought it would be worth mentioning that the version of Full Metal Demon Muramasa is the streamer friendly version. But you can get the uncensored patch free from Jast. Sorry for any confusion there.

It's not really a dating sim where you pick a girl to jack off at, it's an actual literature work that you read for story.

and if gog wanted to do anything about they would just look at the logs from around 17:15.

Any chance of letting Gog host the 18+ patches? They do it as free DLC for some of their other adult games.
