I've been playing story rich games and when the achievements notifications po I find it really disrupting and destroys the immersion a bit. The disable achievements setting I tried but I'm afraid it disables the possibility of earing them, which I don't what. What I want is a setting that atleast silences the notification or a setting that completely removes the achievement notification.

If there is a setting already or if I misunderstood the disable achievement setting, I would appreciate clarification.

If you're talking about Galaxy, you need to disable "Overlay" (Settings - Features).
