Oh hey, I remember watching Yahtzee play this, what, ten years ago?

Sure, I'll grab a free game.
btw, you can thank Seth here if you want: https://twitter.com/rtsoft

I'd love to see some of Hamumu's freeware games show up here (mainly Spooky Castle and Dr. Lunatic SwC), but not expecting that anytime soon for various reason and they're easily found on itch.io. (I assume linking to itch.io breaks the new ToS?)

Warzone 2100 is on Steam, would be nice to have it here too. Death Rally, Dreamweb, Railroad Tycoon 1, Starcraft, early GTAs, SimCity 1, Lost Vikings 1 and 2, etc

Why not just download Warzone 2100 from the website. It already 100% free.

Be nice to see the wishlist votes completed ;) Same could be said of Dink Smallwood.

Lodium: Its a time limited one
so i think thats the reason why they havent put it up on free game list but i migth be wrong

HunchBluntley: "Time-limitless", which is their peculiar way of saying it's permanently free. (Which, to be fair, I'm pretty sure it had been for many years before this, though of course it being on GOG will help a bit with exposure.)
i coud have sworn i saw limited instead of limitless or my brain somehow interpreted it as such
Guess i was wrong

A few thoughts, from what I remember:
* The game is a Zelda-like, not an RPG. (In other words, the game plays more like Zelda than something like Dragon Quest.)
* There are a few parts that make me somewhat uncomfortable, like the main character's reactions to slaughtering chicken on one screen, for example.
* For some reason, there are no enemies that use projectile attacks; the only projectiles are the spells that you can throw at enemies.
* From what I hear, some of the mods for the game might be a bit much, in terms of content, for some players. (Then again, as usual for mods, expect them to vary in quality; some may be excellent, but you might also encounter some that are garbage or incomplete.)

... One Must Fall: 2097. I'm still surprised GOG hasn't picked it up. It's been in freeware land for longer than I can remember and it's an awesome fighting game from back in the day.
I played Dink eons ago and it was nice, but it was also quite rough and simple.
Give it a go only if you're curious about an old indie.
I loved this goofy game. I remember it was on a demo CD and I was blown away that Dink Smallwood not kicked me out after some screen but I could finish it.

Thank you GOG for bringing it back!

Totally agree. I left it off since Rob Elam apparently lost interest in a GOG release shortly after I managed to get in touch, long ago. Not sure if he'd change his mind nowadays.

Abuse is in a slightly similar situation, Dave Taylor didn't want to release here because (iirc) of GOG being more a commercial enterprise than Desura.

paladin181: The game has always been free, yes.
Forgot to post this earlier, but apparently it hasn't always: it released as a commercial game in either 1997 or '98 (depending on where you look), and was made freeware in '99.

Thanks for the freebie! Plus a lot other free games mentioned in the booklet! Some had somehow escaped my radar. Nice, GOG!

Dink HD has always been free. Dink Smallwood was sold back in 97 (I still have my download email) but in 2011, long after it went free, it was remastered and re released as Dink HD.
