Yep. From several 80+ hours RPG at the same time to one short adventure/point and click at a time. Ain't got time for RPG binge marathon anymore.

In my youth I played a lot of military flightsimulations. That's not the case anymore...

I used to play a lot of action games. I still enjoy them, but I prefer the slower paced games now. Less Devil May Cry and more Dark Souls, games less reflex based and more strategy and and timing based.

Basically less twitchy, more thinky.

I think age has slowed my reflexes but I've made up for it with forethought and experience.

as a kid (12) you played other games, but as you grow up things change
the last 8 tot 10 years i noticed that all games went 3d and more like that, since these are a no no to me, i discoverd simple 'flat' casual games, and now i have >264 games (retail cd/dvd) and 300 digital downloads.

Basically its ebcause the developers dont seem to make many games i can play, and if i can plat them (no 3d no flashes etc etc) the game designs kinda fails, doesnt live up to my expectations.
With casual games it is indeed more of the same but since all graphics are different setins are different and story is different, i like them.
So i have turned to casual games because of lack of good games i can play.

Sure, there are still dozens good old games out there, but not available anywhere(drm free),
but i have almost all the games i can play in my shelves on gog and elsewhere, but i am eagerly waiting for some big suprises, for games i can buy again. :D

I do have a wishlist for many many games that are around but not many people seem to be wanting these cause theres little gamers asking for these (voting) fpp and the likes get gazillions of votes so its logical these get to arrive first.

Anyway i am still hoping these few games might show up drm free , so i can buy them, play them again, preferably in this live :D cause i dont think they play games up there :D

Also back then everything was more arcade like. Now you can choose your style from those dumbed-down games.. =)

Back when I was a kid I would play whatever I could put my hands on because it's not like I had that many options to begin with. Plus lots of free time. I did always "hate" flight simulators and most racing games, tho. And I never got into the MMO rage because, frankly speaking who can tolerate annoying dipshits who can only spew "fag" out of every other word?

As I grew I developed a primary taste for RTSs, adventures, most types of action games and a bit of RPGs. And they stuck with me so far, but I play a lot less RPGs because I just can't commit the time. I also cut down on many action games because my reflexes are slower than they used to be and I felt them to lack innovation faster than other genres did.

Now I decided to burn through my RTS backlog before my reflexes get worse. I'll still be able to enjoy adventures by that time.

In the "early years" I was largely playing whatever I could get my hands on, wasn't exactly me choosing. Platformers, sports, adventure, RTS, puzzle, managerial, 4x, even a couple of FPSs... Proper RPGs may have come in a bit later actually, oddly.

A bit later, among other things, I insisted on struggling with some RTS games even though I always sucked at them. That eventually changed, as over the past 10+ years the only ones I played were Homeworld 2 and Kohan 2, which are both somewhat different and more towards what I can play.
Been looking more into TBS in recent-ish years, after early on the genre pretty much meant HoMM for me and while I played them to a point and claimed to like them I was mainly just frustrated with 2 and 3.

Adventure games are one thing I was trying to play in the early-ish years but haven't touched in a very long time and don't care to.
Also haven't touched platformers in a long time and don't plan to. But even playing them initially may just have been a case of simply having them around, not a choice.

Also may be some 10 years now since the last 4X (Civilization 4, 2nd time around, just wanted to win again once). Early on there was Colonization, a couple of Civilization games, Master of Orion 2 and 3 briefly...

Otherwise, FPS games are one thing I was never keen on, but early on I did play 2 (Wolfenstein 3d and Quake 2) a fair amount, nearly finished Wolf actually. Then gave up the thought, only very briefly poking around a few more some 12 years ago, giving up usually after mere minutes and never touching the genre again since.

Oh, managerial games seem to be dropped too. There were a few football managers (CM, one FM and one other I can't recall the name of) plus Capitalism Plus way back, haven't touched anything of the sort in 10+ years. Then again, I do mean to play another FM, but with their Steam-only thing, no thanks, so keep putting it off at least till they have a change of heart, and probably forever at this point.
Also, long time since I last touched a sports game. But playing them (racing, pool, may add a bit of fighting here too, a winter sports one and a couple of odder things) early on was largely a matter of simply having them fall into my hands. Maybe an actual choice were the 2 FIFA games I played in the late '90s, maybe 2000 tops, but again none since.

RPGs remain a staple, but I'm actually wondering which the first proper one I played is and when. As I was saying, may have been relatively late, actually, so that in itself may be a change, but once I did play some, I stuck with the genre.

So basically, first whatever I happened to get my hands on (and I'm not counting the first 6 months or so when I had a ZX Spectrum clone, for which it was just dad getting a few tapes with whatever happened to be on them for me to poke at, before the first computer, or the NES clone with a bunch of included games which I played because, well, those were the ones I had). Then trying various genres, perhaps insisting a bit too much on a couple, till I found my place, and pretty much stuck with it since I was 18-20 or so.

Many years ago, I thought I stopped liking FPS but found I stopped enjoying FPS made today. They might be fine if I enjoyed multiplayer, but since I don't, most FPS with single player campaigns bore me fairly quickly.

I think I'm somewhat the same. Over the years I played a lot of FPS and other games where good reflexes gave you an edge. Lots of DOOM, lots of Counter-Strike, lots of Quake and Unreal. Mixed in was RTS and RPGs but I mastered all the major FPS and beat them on the hardest difficulties.

Now people notice my reflexes are pretty good, but my desire to play FPS had dwindled. Once I graduated from high school I started to pour more time into RTS. Always liked C&C when I was younger, but was only decent at best. Now I consider myself pretty good, and feel I can really hold my own in a lot of RTS.

I've also taken more interest in fighting games, since mastering a character takes patience and good memory. I also started to take turn-based strategy more seriously.

I still play FPS, but I'm extremely picky about them now. Actually I'm very critical towards all media I consume.

I used to spend most of my time playing strategy games like Age of Empires, Starcraft, Civilization or Master Of Orion. Also plenty of PES or FIFA games with Need For Speed. Porche Unleashed was my favorite of all time.

I couldnt play most legendary RPGs back than because my english wasnt that good. Now I play those games and only them. I still play Total War games but to a minimum time.

Not all that much, I think. I still like adventure games and RPGs, but maybe I have a little less patience for padding, long winded dialogues and bad puzzle design now. I also play more shooter and action games now than back in the days, but I think that's probably due to those games getting more focussed on story-telling and cinematics over time, and characters getting a little more complex than the 80's muscled macho man clichés. In general I prefer shorter games now, but I was never a big fan of epic lengths.

I find myself going back to the basics as I get older: shmups & fighting games from the arcades. I find it fascinating how much more skill and dedication is needed to master those, compared to most modern games. I wish I had discovered and worked toward mastering them when I was younger.

They are just imitating the behaviour of adults and that gets worse every generation too.
Have you looked at the people working in child care? Usually ones with no virtues at all.
Around here, problem cases get shoved into those areas by the job-center.
If people working with children had to be educated in philosophy, things would look very different, but philosophy students are about the least respected people in most places and only get to drive taxis instead of educating children about ethics, social behaviour, independend thought and being able to see other perspectives.
