This 4x title has been bugging me for years now, mostly because the game tends to end in the top 3 of best 4x games out there in a lot of different lists, and I did not like the game a lot..... wich is weird. I play a lot of 4x games, never missed any of the triple A 4x titles or you want to include paradox monsters such as HoI or Victoria, i'm not even sure other people would recognize those titles as 4x games since grand strategy is still a bit different from 4x such as any 4x game is a grand strategy game but not all grand strategy titles are 4x games you know!
Anyhow, somewhere last year i discovered numerous dlc available for the game and during a steam sale this year i finally decided on taking the jump and buy 'stuff' for something i did not enjoy! This was certainly not the first time i did this, with civ V and beyond Earth taking similar strolls but hey, from sid we came to expect that throwing money at him and his company in general makes life more then oke in the games you want to play from them, most hilarious is the part where every review of a civ dlc seems to be granted the 'must get' title which in all respect seems to be true... which might be even worse then acknowledging a market strategy based on human inadaptability which in all fairness does not seem to have the same ring as shouting best DLC ever?
Now with 6 dlc's installed i have to admit i'm actually liking the game, a lot. The graphical style and music presentation where always up to par and even manage to awe now deep in 2020. I'm even not able to deduct wich changes where made but everything does seem to come together now in a more thought out manner. There are still a few minor points remaining such as the notification a company is hired, or better said the developers of endless legend pulled on of the IOU's they apparaently had standing out to rid the game of bugs present for a long time now. This is also one of those points that seem to raise some eyebrows in a manner of the difference being a good developer with a right heart vs the moneyschemer that tries to raise points with his crowd for the launch of their magnus opum. I'm sure the truth is more intricate then good dev vs bad dev as many excellent 4x games of the past have teached us about the perils of decision making but even with everything taken into account for my question remains the same
Does this game deserve a top 3 or even a top 5 notification among the 4x stars ?
