Pangaea666: Do manuals count? :D

(It's something that existed in the golden age of gaming, before everything including the heart was ripped out in the digital age)
This. I don't remember how many times I went through the original Starcraft's manual when I was a kid, I loved the narrative and the worldbuilding, basically what now everyone calls the "lore", I began to read more SciFi books after that. Back then I didn't have access to a very powerful computer or many games so reading magazine articles was an incredible way to enter the fantastic worlds proposed by those old-school videogames, I especially remember an article about "The City of Lost Children" published in a spanish magazine which I read many times without ever playing the game.

As for videogames per se, Ravenloft and Baldur's Gate made me want to read a few Forgotten Realms novels, and the videogame Heimdall also increased my appetite for mythology.

Many people are mentioning the Witcher novels, are they worth it? Is it good literature or just good entertainment?

I forgot, I also read a lot of Dragonlance books when we were playing D&D.. Very cool universe!
Owning a game did: because of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. I read the book Roadside Picnic and later watched the movie Stalker (I liked the book better), but I haven't got round to play the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series yet.
