Klumpen0815: Anyway, there are a lot of good alternatives by now.

1. Nox

rtcvb32: I wouldn't qualify Nox as a good alternative personally. I managed to beat it, my review on it gives my full thoughts on it.

But in short, the melee sucks, the magic sucks, ranged attacks suck, inventory and selling items suck, dying you are taunted. Lots of other things suck too... About 4 hours or something in you're ready to just quit, I only beat it out of sheer will.

Not sure how multiplayer works, but I assume it's coop play rather than say a challenging randomized dungeon with loot gathering.
Oh you have no idea how much shit I had to go through playing a Warrior.

You forgot to mention that armor durability in this is about as fragile as wet paper. And repairing is obscenely expensive because you never get that much money.

And this game has a huge difficulty spike near the end of the game where the most standard of monsters can straight up one shot you. I hate Mimics, I hate those bears, I hate Beholders.

And personally the story's tone is completely wrong judging from the intro CG cinematic.

I thought this was gonna be some self aware parody of Fantasy RPG story. Nope they played the story straight, never mind your main charcater is literally from real world earth and go sucked in video game land essentially.

doccarnby: In more disappointing Blizzard remaster news, no remasters of Warcraft 1 and 2. "I promise you, in today's world, by today's standards, it's just not that fun any more."

They do state that they have all their files and source codes for everything they've done though.

KiNgBrAdLeY7: Damn man, for the sad news! I would rather have a warcraft 2 remake than anything other off of Bliz... Or a Diablo 1 remake. Damn.
Agreed. This whole esports thing has always rubbed me the wrong way. I've always prefered Diablo 1 to all of the Diablos and considered Warcraft 2 to be the best out of the Warcrafts. I long ago cut ties with the games Blizzard makes (Same with Bioware). I'll always be able to play Diablo and Warcraft 2 tho, they don't need a remaster and the community have always been doing great things with those games. Diablo 1 and Warcraft 2 not running in 4k is not the end of the world.

Heh, I played the summoner and the wizard classes. Although repairing is annoying I think I changed out armor and weapons and stuff so regularly with junk on the ground I rarely did repairs.

But yes. Huge difficulty spike at the end. I personally ended up placing traps everywhere and had her stumble into them to defeat her. Set trap, recharge, set trap, recharge, stay invisible, etc. Annoying...

Honestly not a game I'd recommend unless you had no other choice...
