Now I want to try out some of the titles you guys have mentioned! I hope they make it to GOG, I wonder if there are some issues with companies having certain rights to the games still that they aren't willing to let GOG release them? but I digress.
the game that holds a special place in my heart would be NO One Lives Forever 2: a spy in H.A.R.M.'s way. I think I've run through that game at least 10 times since it was released in '03. The game play is pretty solid, but my favorite part was the fun, and silly, storyline and how the characters bantered back and forth. plus the gadgets were pretty fun, you never felt overwhelmed by how many there were like some titles of the time. Plus nothing says awesome like a girl spy kicking the crap out of bad guys! :-D that's my two cents anyway.

Well, I don't know if I can be bothered to mention any SSI games, considering I finally found the games I wanted on eBay, in the form of the Forgotten Realms Archives, but having them without the archaic DRM would be great. Though the Krynn games mentioned earlier looks like something interesting.
By archaic DRM, do you mean the code wheels? Those were part of the charm!
System Shock 1&2 and Thief 1&2

Every. Freaking. Time I start the damn games I need those codes. And I don't have the codewheel! that's the most annoying. The only thing I got when I bought it was the original CD casing, with the four discs. This was mentioned, so I just started hunting for replacements and similar, and finally happened on these sites:
1
2
Those two gave me everything I needed to start those games. I also found cracks for some of the games, so I wouldn't need to type in anything at all.
But do you have ANY idea of what it's like to find cracks for game that old? It's like hunting for soap in a pool of feces.
Wolfenstein 3D
Doom
The Secret of Guybrysh Thrappwapp idiocy (err....)
Indy and the Fate of Sophia Hapgood's lovely panties (ehm...)
Out of this World
Flashback
Prince of Persia
Eye of the Beholder

I was probably more tolerant of them because I always sat down for a long session of play and so didn't have to do the codes as regularly. To be honest though, if they appeared tomorrow on GOG and didn't have the code wheels, I'd be a bit disappointed
The Microprose sims used to make you identify planes, tanks or boats as their checking system, those were kinda cool because they could help you in game as well. I seem to recall that Rocket Ranger made you calculate the fuel you'd need for a specific journey by using a wheel, I think it was one of those red & blue things you had to view through red plastic to read the numbers, made it harder to photocopy
I've had to find cracks for extremely elderly things before and I agree they're not easy unless you're really patient.
Would you WANT soap that's been a pool of feces?

No. I do not want feces covered soap, therefor I smear my self in patience, and look other places.
Besides, a shit infested soap probably doesn't work that well as a crack for old games anyway...
I agree
