tfishell: By getting the free game, GOG subscribes you to their promotional emails, so you have to uncheck the "Promotions and hot deals" checkbox in the Subscriptions settings (unless you want the emails). I think that's a fair trade.

rtcvb32: If they didn't send tons of unwanted promotional 'discount codes' all the time i'd agree.

But pretty much the only thing i do is delete said emails, so it's more a waste of my time.
