I last checked all sales games yesterday, and most weren't in my price range for purchasing..
Today, I find a whole lot are within my range, many having dropped a few dollars in price since yesterday.
So I work my way through, amending my new lowest price records, but then what happens when I start adding to the Cart for purchase? The original prices come back.

What a pain in the ass.

Were those prices a temporary quick discount or some glitch?
Either way, totally annoying.

I come here each and every day, often more than once, and try and keep up with things.
Maybe I am doing it wrong? Perhaps I should only visit once a week or month?

Perhaps i should let those new lowest prices stand as the future benchmark? An awful lot of mucking around to correct them all.

Not that I am complaining mind.

P.S. I still love you ... especially my wallet, which just got a welcome reprieve. Ha ha ha ha.

It's a known bug, sometimes the site will think that you are in another location, or even change your currency. Going to checkout (no need to proceed with payment) is a known way to solve this issue, as well as refreshing your account and sometimes changing your language/currency settings at the bottom of the page.

I am guessing you have noted I have over 700 games at GOG. ;)

I've seen this happen before for the odd game, but never enmasse.
Perhaps it is a location issue, but as I am not doing anything IP or VPN related, that is worrying.
And it is not like I left the store and came back.
I also have Aussie currency selected.
And if it was a Refresh issue then the prices would have stayed the same and be what they are now.

In any case a painful bug at the magnitude that occurred.

The prices got me all excited ... now what am I gonna do? Ken's taken Barbie out ... and I'm out of beer to drown my sorrows.
Probably an incoming weekend sale. Wait about two hours to have everything properly listed.

Nope it's been and gone already. The quickest sale ever.

So quick they never had time to come up with a name for it.
I may have been half joking with my previous posts, but to be completely honest the GOG stuff up with prices, has killed much of my enthusiasm for the current sale and perhaps beyond.

I still come here once a day at the moment, but I am only half-hearted with my checking and it is soon over, with no real deep scrutiny.

As much as I love GOG, and I truly do, it was quite B-Grade for that price issue to happen. I'm an oldtimer and been on the web a long time, and never had that happen to me before.

To be sure, it was only of short duration that price hiccup, but there are other ongoing issues that get me down from time to time. We got a new looking forum, that is both good and bad, a few months ago, but some longstanding issues still haven't been fixed. Take games that get an update, without any explanation, that require deep digging in a topic here and elsewhere, to find out virtually nothing in most instances. Then there are many dead links. You still can't sort your Wishlist by Price or percentage of discount or even alphabetical for that matter. And nothing irks me more, than to have prices change for items in my cart, while I am still checking out other items. I also wish that they provided information of game version updates (and when) on their game pages. Many games don't show a download size, especially when a special version. Links in your Library often don't take you to the correct page for the Deluxe or other special version, but take you to the standard game page instead ... that at least they seem to be addressing by combining pages, that then have a dropdown menu for other variants. And the list goes on.

I do at times worry that I have bought into something that could die any time, because the issues kind of seem to point to them running on a shoestring budget. I know GOG have been going for years, and that gives me hope. But I haven't been around here long enough (two years this May) to see what trends have developed over the longer period.

I do applaud them for their good Support service though, and sticking to NO DRM.

Long may GOG reign!

I think it's a combination of many things, including the Polish attitude, that things are good, as long as they work somehow. That's nothing against Polish people. I've met a lot of Poles in my time and many openly admitted this kind of "way of life". Actually, it's just another way to deal with things, and in many ways even preferable to typical uptight and perfectionist German ways. At least it's more relaxed...

As for GOG closing down... well GOG is part of CD Projekt (Witcher, Cyberpunk) and as long as they don't mess up big time, I'm not worried. And even if GOG would go down the drain - as long as you have backed up your DRM-free installers you're still safe.

Imagine Steam getting shut down, maybe over some legal issue (or "illegal immigrants and terrorists communicating there" leading to an edict) - for many people the sky would come down...

That may be, can't say I know any Poles personally ... but a few peoples are like that.

I have of course backed up as much as I can ... within reason.
Including game pages ... but not extended or related ones. BUT ALAS, since upgrading Firefox past v61, some web pages no longer save properly or at all, including from GOG. I am currently troubleshooting that.

This may be a security/GOG/Firefox issue, as using a Firefox Addon, I find when I attempt to save -
https://www.gog.com/account/settings/orders
it is being redirected and saved as -
https://www.gog.com/##openlogin
which results in a minimalist GOG home page.

This is a fairly recent change, and I rely on being able to save GOG pages, like the Cart, Library, Orders, Game pages, etc.

So yes, GOG dying would currently mean a loss of much INFO and HELP, so indeed a worry.

Indeed.

Well, important are the installers and extras. For the orders, someone recently posted a link where you can download your complete order history (XML-format iirc).
Unfortunately the web page saving issue with Firefox, also occurs with Opera, but overcome with its Save to PDF option.
A Firefox representative thinks it is something deliberate that GOG and others have just recently put in place ... code to stop web pages being saved correctly.

I have now discovered that along with PayPal, Humble and Steam no longer save properly for me.

Rotten buggers all.

Gawd, GOG don't send out a receipt every now and then after I make a purchase. I have a receipt for paid games from PayPal of course, but free games never get there, and no specific detail is listed at PayPal.

I save the web pages for my peace of mind. They back up my memory and are free from interference and a great ready reference, though no doubt have no status in a court of law.

Then you have some summary of each game you purchase, and specs, comments from reviewers, that often give insight on some issue.

Just a bunch of knuckleheads, worried about who knows what.

P.S. Before going down this route, GOG should have at least provided a Resend Receipt option in ORDERS HISTORY, where they only currently offer View Receipt and Contact Support. And included a Summary of the game, with a Cover image, as part of the Game downloads.
