Such a promising project... I've been looking forward to this day ever since the game's announcement in October last year, I feel like backing it for its art style alone.

Darkest Dungeon will launch on Steam, but the developers are "also looking into other awesome distribution partners and DRM-free options, too". Asking them about the possibility of a GOG release wouldn't hurt, however.
Looks interesting, but they have an exklusiv class for backers at the 49$ tier.
So I am realy unsure about pledging and probably not support it.
Oh God why side-scrolling.... why god why
Yes, to both those posts. Side-scrolling dungeon crawler is inexplicable, and things like "exclusive backer classes" is not a concept I want to support.
This "affliction" thing looks really nice...
"Looking into" a DRM-free release. lul.
Looks very Warhammerish, I don't like the backer-only classes either.

Um, what's wrong with a sidescrolling blobber? It looks pretty great as far as I'm concerned, the combat system seems to work similar to the majority of grid-based first person dungeon crawlers, too - it's just a matter of perspective.

not for the first time I agree with you.
also the maybe maybe not exploring DRM free is turning me off.projects used to commit to DRM free regardless.

The combat doesn't really bother me, just the potential for the dungeons to be very linear and have limited exploration, because for can only go forward and backward (maybe I'm missing something?).

Unless they go Legend of Dungeon way of treating dungeons. I like this artwork though.....
Actually, on second inspection, it seems if you look at the map there is a possibility of going in different directions: http://www.redhookgames.com/media/screenshots/6_Grapeshot.jpg

Though still looks pretty much straight forward

It's rather reminiscent of a board game in many ways. Dungeon exploration seems to revolve around moving between nodes (rooms, or points of interests) which is where the paths may or may not branch out in different directions. Random encounters - be it combat, items etc. - occur in hallways.
I wonder if only the front rank can be hit (with melee)? If so "tank" characters could easily be very powerful in the game.
All right, that looks pretty damn cool. I'm loving the idea behind managing your party in more ways than just 'hit points, mana points and cool gear!' And the art style is amazing.

On the other hand, seeing that it has already been funded, I'm not going to put any money down towards the KS - I will watch the project tho. Thank you for the information Phaidox.
