The funny thing is, when you remove all of the more advanced elements, the core of the combat system is very similar to the Zelda series. It's been around since the days of Ocarina of Time on the N64, yet until recently very few developers managed to copy it successfully. I figure if a feature or game system works well, there is no shame in copying it for your own game, or at least trying to learn from it. Better than coming up with an original, but clearly inferior alternative. But apparently game developers for the past few decades felt differently about that.
