500000 seems rather modest.

Any regulars here that already backed or plan to and could ask what the plans are in regards to a DRM-free release of TWR on GOG? Would have done it myself but Kickstarter still doesn't accept PayPal.
Thanks.

That video looks pretty awesome I must admit.

How to deal with the locked door was very un-Daggerfall I thought.

[Daggerfall version]
"There must be another way in..." - whip out Elven warhammer, bash, bash, bash, teleport into house.

"Our goal is to raise $500,000 to fund one year of development on an Early Access build that will feature preliminary versions of key systems. It is our aim to then take that Early Access build to publishers to seek out further funding and continue development on the rest of the game."

Also closing in on being 50% funded.

Kinda shows how hard Kickcheater has fallen off with general audiences. During the original bubble this probably would be sitting at 500% funding now.
Just in (from the comments section):

"we would love for it to be on gog, might be a publisher discussion. Probably not for early access - having to update the game regularly on multiple platforms becomes a pain in the ass really quickly. But never say never."

The cynic in me:

Hey guys give us $500,000 to make our game without any fear of commercial failure.

But we can't be bothered to target multiple platforms.

Have to agree. The only difference in multiple curators, would be the garbage each has, like achievements and statistics. Which has nothing to do with the game. The game on it own, should not have any difference on different platforms or the dev staff are indirectly telling the masses they just dont give thit, from the start.

Making updates without garbage attached, across multiple platforms is not something that should be difficult.
Making updates because the dev teams bakes in client trash......hello captain obvious. Bad game design 101.

Hope it comes for people who want it. Maybe GOG staff or others here can encourage a full/completed release coming here and at the same time acknowledge / understand not wanting to worry about E.A.. I realize GOG will miss out on sales from people who buy the E.A. version, but better than nothing imo.

Worldbuilding of The Wayward Realms

"In this video we dive into, we introduce you to the team and chat about what does it mean to be Wayward and what experience do we want the players to gain from it. We showcase concept art & gameplay footage along with taking a moment to remember a close friend & colleague, Frank Nadeau- mastermind behind The Wayward Realms Dwarfs, their culture, & so much more."

"Honor Julian Lefay's Legacy

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we inform our community of the passing of Julian Lefay, our beloved Technical Director and co-founder of OnceLost Games.

Julian Lefay was not just a colleague-he was a visionary who fundamentally shaped the gaming industry as we know it today. Known as the "Father of The Elder Scrolls", Julian directed the creation of legendary titles including Elder Scrolls I & II: Arena, Daggerfall, and Battlespire. His pioneering work established the foundation for open-world RPGs and influenced countless developers and games that followed.

At OnceLost Games, Julian was one of the masterminds behind The Wayward Realms, bringing decades of expertise and an unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of what RPGs could achieve. His technical brilliance, creative vision, and dedication to player agency have been the driving forces behind our ambitious project.

Throughout his courageous battle with cancer, Julian never wavered in his passion for The Wayward Realms. Even during his illness, he continued to share his vision with our team, mentor our developers, and ensure that every aspect of the game reflected his commitment to creating something truly extraordinary. His strength, determination, and unwavering focus inspire us all.

We understand that our community will likely have many questions about how Julian's passing will affect The Wayward Realms' development. We want to be transparent with you. This is an immeasurable loss for our team, our community, and our industry.

However, Julian's vision for The Wayward Realms is deeply embedded in every aspect of our development process. His technical frameworks, design philosophies, and direction have been carefully documented and shared with our team. We are not just continuing his work- we are honoring it by ensuring that his vision becomes the reality he dreamed of.

We are more committed than ever to bringing The Wayward Realms to life exactly as Julian envisioned it. Our development continues with the same passion, technical excellence, and attention to detail that Julian demanded. Every feature, every system, and every player experience will aim to reflect his dedication to creating "The Grand RPG" that redefines what the genre can be.

Ted Peterson, Eric Heberling, and our entire development team remain fully dedicated to this mission. We will continue to share development updates, maintain our transparency with the community, and ensure that The Wayward Realms becomes the groundbreaking experience Julian knew it could be.

Julian's influence extends far beyond our studio. He touched the lives of millions of players worldwide and inspired countless developers to push creative boundaries. Julian's legacy will live on in every realm, every quest, and every moment of wonder that players will experience in The Wayward Realms."
Damn, what a blow - on the same day as Ozzy, too.
Mad props to Peterson and the team for marching on.
