Valts007: To play Ken Follett’s The Pillars of the Earth, do I need read book?
Absolutely not. I've read the book, watched the TV series and played the game. I think I've just also ordered them in quality order ;), but perhaps I just like books.
The game is still very decent point and click with beautiful graphics and music. Gameplay-wise it's kind of "modern" adventure, not the classic style (easier, more cut-scenes, some puzzles are trivial, there are a few time-based parts trying to make the game more dynamic I suppose), which might be good or bad depending what you like.
For this price it's long and engaging story - and without knowing the book it'd be even more interesting, because of some plot twists, which in my case were spoiled by reading the book.
argamasa: Hi, It´s not necessary, but in my opinion i enjoyed more the game because i read the book before.
In my case it was exactly the opposite :) The book is much deeper and story has been obviously simplified in the game, which caused some disappointment in my case. Comparing to other adventure games - this one is really long, interesting and full of surprises.
