That’s right, the gem of an open-world, action-adventure RPG set in the megalopolis of Night City from CD PROJEKT RED is up for grabs with a -50% discount until April 23rd, 10 PM UTC!

Cyberpunk 2077 needs no introduction, nor its impeccably created world of urban outlaws, cybernetic enhancements, neon lights and one of a kind atmosphere. Yet, this title is being constantly improved upon with the introduction of new features. The latest one being the technology preview of a completely new, fully ray-traced, aka path-traced, rendering mode – Ray Tracing: Overdrive Mode (more information about it can be found HERE).

With this new, groundbreaking addition to the game and the -50% bargain (not to mention the excitement of Phantom Liberty expansion coming this year) it is the perfect time to discover or rediscover the Night City and its beauty.

But words can only say so much. If you haven’t already, sit back, relax and marvel upon the stunning visuals of Night City with RT: Overdrive Mode in this amazing video by Digital Foundry.

GOG.com: Cyberpunk 2077 is now 50% off – explore the Night City with cutting-edge visuals!
Isn't this yesterdays' news?
50% off? That never happens. :)

Still not buying.

A "technology preview" that requires a ridiculously expensive & energy hungry GPU from a shitty company is hardly groundbreaking. Even if it's a cool feature, graphics have come to a point of diminishing returns and there are many scenes where RT makes little difference [especially when you focus on playing the game instead of pixel peeping static screenshots], and many scenes where it can be argued which looks better (subjectively) or which looks better from a gameplay perspective. For example, I saw many scenes where the RT overdrive just blows out hilights (coupled with ridiculous bloom) and darkens the shadows -- it may or may not be realistic, it may or may not be good for gameplay, it may or may not be what the artist intended and may require readjusting the lighting (or adding more ray bounces!) to get the desired result.

Call me when you've got groundbreaking gameplay improvements, that's what I play games for after all.

I really hope the expansion doesn't disappoint on that front..
Bought it, ages ago. I think it's improved a lot but I'm still using 7, so 1.61 is the last version for me.
Instead of reducing the price by 50%, why don't you reduce the amount of client/online-locked (i.e., DRMed) content by 100% by removing the Galaxy requirement for "My Rewards" and getting rid of Piggyback Interactive Online Map?
That looks good! Still can't afford that GPU, but one day I will be able to push my machine to those visuals. Love this game and can't wait for the DLC!

I don't see why they can't integrate it with the game and remove the online part.
Don't have the hardware for Overdrive but the game is a blast anyway so it's all good.

Phantom Liberty i do want so bring it.
You can use certain console commands with CET and currently version 1.61 to get the reward items offline:
https://wiki.redmodding.org/cyber-engine-tweaks/

Game.AddToInventory("Items.Preset_Katana_GoG",1)
Game.AddToInventory("Items.GOG_DLC_Jacket",1)
Game.AddToInventory("Items.GOG_DLC_TShirt",1)
Game.AddToInventory("Items.GOG_Galaxy_TShirt",1)

It should also be possible to write a mod to add these items somewhere in the game.
"with cutting-edge visuals!"

I'm still waiting for the "cutting-edge"' gameplay that was promised years ago. Instead we just got a Call of Duty scenario, in a ubisoft open world.
Is ray tracing the new " gamer's Viagra " ?

Evidently, they would rather make money from selling a DRM/online required piece of content instead of providing fully DRM-free content. Seems kind of silly when you consider the old school minded gamers who insist on DRM-free and who get called various names like "luddite" even on these forums, are the ones who tend to spend the most on GOG. But, they've chosen their direction it seems.
Great ! Can I get 50% of what I paid, back, Choomba ??? ;-p

I feel so tired: Is ray tracing the new " gamer's Viagra " ?
Well, it has to do something, I don't see reasons for it.
