I figured GoG version of Grim dawn would probably not be able to connect with STEAM but went with GoG anyhow, That being said is there any type of status update on GoG and STEAM being able to "play along?" Is it in the works or just unlikely that that would happen. Would love some feedback....thanks in advance. Appologies if this has been asked before but I didn't see any current information.

Well, GOG's Grim Dawn store page still states that multiplayer is only available between gog.com players, so no Crossplay as far as I can find out.
Thanks for the response. I would love to see Grim dawn with CrossPlay...this is more of a question on wether GoG and STEAM are "talking" to implement Crossplay across the board. I'm interested if it is a work in progress or 'dead in the water".

You should be able to use Evolve for a virtual LAN / Crossplay. I've played Grim Dawn via evolve before, and it worked great. This will work with any game that has built in LAN (as long as Evolve supports it)

Thanks for the suggestion! I installed Tungle to see what that was about. Saw about 3 or 4 games available. Did Evolve have a good player base? I may give that a try also. Thanks!

As far as I know, it's not GOG/Steam that decides the implementation of crossplay, but the developer/publisher of the game. Which is why some games support it (Aliens vs Predator, Double Dragon Trilogy, Rise of the Triad 2013, Star Wars: Battlefront 2) and others don't (Dying Light, Homeworld Remastered, Grim Dawn).

As for Grim Dawn, the developers stated last year that they were looking into implementing crossplay, but there have been no further news since then.

Yes thats what i had thought. however the post by Crate employee Zantai makes me think GoG and STEAM may need to communicate. I was hoping for some news/update in either direction from GoG but they may have to be tight lipped on any developments..just a guess. Here is the post:
