See screenshot. I just want to play Wasteland 2 (NOT the Director's cut). But I'm confused as to what I'm supposed to download. Just the 4 "parts" or the 4 "parts" and the patches and then apply the patches??? Why is this so confusing? Couldn't they have done something different?

I don't have this game, but according to this post, the installer is already patched to the latest version, so you only have to download parts 1-4. Which makes sense, as the installer Says GOG-18 and the patch 6 also ends on 18.

When they provide separate patches at all, in most cases, they also update the main installer.

This is so that people who download the game for the first time directly get the latest version, and don't have to worry about patches (yet) while people who have already downloaded it, and perhaps don't want to download the entire thing again (slow internet connection perhaps), have the option to just get the patches.

If you don't have a previous version of the multi-file installer stored/backed up, you only need the 4 parts of the installer.
If you have a previous version, check how old it is, and if the available patches (4-6) cover you, download them, install the game and patch it accordingly.
As far as I can tell, GOG only sells the "Directors Cut" version. The other version isn't included. I could be wrong, of course, but that seldom happens.

DC should also include non DC version. At least on Steam, no idea about GOG.
Thank you very much for your help. I didn't have this installed at all on this laptop so I just downloaded the 4 parts and will now install.

Oh, and yes, I do have both versions showing in my library, the "original" version and the Director's Cut version. I want to play the original version first and then the Director's Cut just so I can experience both and get a feel for the changes made.

I am impressed you found the normally installers :o)

The number at the end shows what the patch upgrades an installer to, so 18 matches the main nataller files. If you accidentally run a patch and it is not needed it either won't do anything or tell you.
I was ... wrong?

I know it's an unusual experience for you, but don't take it too hard. It happens to everyone.

Yep, if you buy Wasteland 2 DC, you get both of them in your library on GoG.

Maybe not. I have both (see screenshot) but then again I purchased Wasteland 2 before the Director's Cut was ever a thing. I suppose it's possible that only those that bought the "original" version before there was a Director's Cut have both, or perhaps if you buy the Director's Cut version at the store (the only version shown in the store now) you still get both. I dunno.

Assault rifles are king in the original version. They rebalanced the weapons a bit for the DC though, changed some of theNPC stats, and added some new perks/talents as well as fixing some bugs.

Good idea to experience both though. I thoroughly enjoyed both versions of the game (I actually did several back to back runs through the original release and 2 of the DC once it was released).
So it seems like a really cool game (I had installed and had a look at it some time ago not long after it came out but never really played it much yet.... Wasteland 2 I'm talking about LOL).

I create my characters just the way I want them.... start the game, get into it, get into my first "encounter".... beat the shit out of a crew of raiders (always satisfying.. find some loot.... one of the pieces of loot is a mod to attach to a weapon.... and so I select my character with the weapon smith (or whatever skill it's called) skill... attach the mod, a box pops up asking if I'm sure I want to attach this mod... I click yes.... and boom... here I am on the desktop.

Entire 15 minutes of playing gone.

If this is how the game is.... boy... thought it had been out enough now. And please don't anyone start with "well you should've played the DC" because the original version was marketed as COMPLETED.

Fucking bullshit.
