Hello everyone,

So here is my problem. I do have a lot of times on my hand at work and at my office, I have that laptop PC, from which I am not the administrator, and therefore I can't install my GOG games, in the proper way.

So I have tried to copy/paste my games from my regular PC to my Work PC... does not work , I have read, that it's because there are some files written in the Windows registry when I install a GOG game, which is not transferred when I copy/paste

Any way around it? I know I shouldn't do it, the reason I am not admin of my laptop at work, is because they do not want me to install "foreign" programs, but just for the sake of it, if you'd have an answer, I'd love to hear it (what's the harm in playing a little Star Wars Rebellion after all

Thanks for the help

Isn't that technically piracy since it's not your computer?
Why don't French companies want to hire again?
I have my games installed on another partition and I've had to reinstall my OS before, which obviously wipes the registry creating the same problem you're having now.

I've found that some games work and some games don't after doing that.

So, it's a game by game basis. What game are you trying to make work?
I don't own Star Wars Rebellion so can't say in that regard. However some games don't necessarily need registry entries even if the installer creates them, games like DOSBox for example, will also run with copy / paste. It's a hit or miss depending on the game.

Additionally if you know your way around the registry you could export them from your home pc and write in the work one using the .reg files.

EDIT:

Or if you're that desperate you can add registry entries this way: http://smallvoid.com/article/winnt-offline-registry-edit.html

DISCLAIMER: Do it at your own risk and only if you know what you're doing, you can break the system if not careful.

Starkrun: Even if you track and copy registry changes it wont matter much. You'll need admin rights to edit the hives on your work machine. you're better off using a DOS era game in DosBOX which would work fine.

That said you will most likely be fired for doing it.
You can, check my link above.

Even in a right-to-work state you can probably get fired for installing unauthorized programs on a company computer. But, if you know better and/or are willing to take the chance...

The term that you should be looking for is "portable". As in this link here or any of the (many) other topics on this forum about how to play games from removable drives. I did not find Star Wars: Rebellion specifically mentioned as portable, but once you go look and see how it is done, you can probably figure out - with a little trial and error - how to find out if any game in the catalog can work portably.

Your best bet is to use a virtual machine. Of course, you might not be able to install a VM app either as a limited user, so try install a VM app on your own computer and see if you get decent-enough performance running the game in question on that VM and then all you can do is try to persuade your administrator to put that VM app on your work computer for you. You might need to think of a good reason. If you have lots of legitimate downtime your admin might be sympathetic toward you wanting to play games, and more willing to let you do so on a VM, but saying that you want to play games on company time is more likely to get you in trouble - use your own judgement here. You could also say that you want to spend your downtime teaching yourself to use other operating systems. That's a good excuse, but beware because lying tends to bite you in the backside. Using your extra time actually training yourself to use other operating systems instead of playing games would be a good idea, and might help your career instead of put it at risk.

Well obviously you have Celine Dion, but there are also a bunch of canadian singers who come from Québec, they are singing in French, so you've probably never heard of them... And you should be grateful that you didn't

And of course there's Bryan Adams...

When did Bryan Adams go to France? Of course he bores the piss out of me so to hell with him. :P

So long as Rush stays on this continent I'm happy. :D
