Hi everyone,

I was wondering... I purchased quite some games only available for Windows, even though I own a Mac.

I assumed that, as time went by, they would get a Mac-treatment as well... and I'm correct, sometimes they do.

I was just wondering... is GoG actively converting / prepping their existing games to Mac?

I'm thinking about the old Sierra Adventure Games, Doom and even Broken Sword 3 and 4.

Thanks!
Kenny
Guess there isn't a definite answer, its probably not up to GOG alone but the Publishers (or the Mac-version publishers) decision i think. Some games that never were available for Mac got a port here, others are still missing the native versions (Metro2033 and Dark Eye - Chains of Satinav for example) - many Mac versions get sold separately (to pay for the porting), so they sometimes are missing from OS independent sellers like GOG or Steam, Bioshock until recently for example.

The Gog-made ports either use Dosbox, ScummVM or Wine wrappers (so they aren't technically native mac programs), you could always try to run/make one yourself:

or using premade Wine "recipes":

Scumm has a limited selection of compatible titles but its probably the easiest to set up.
I mostly use Wineskin and had good results with many games from here, it works pretty well with older titles nowadays i'd say. It takes some time reading up though, you usually need to install a few windows libraries (that Wine then translates into something OSX can understand). You can often look these up in the Wine Database but if you don't really want to mess around with this too much id recommend trying porting kit first, of course, only if the desired game is already available there...
