Any chance GOG will get a controller configuration like Steam has? Steam makes it a breeze to set up an xbox 360 controller or any controller through their big picture mode.

I know you can play with 3rd party aps like xpadder, but that can be tedious compared with Steam's process.

If not, then it may definitely affect deciding to purchase an old game where a controller is a must from GOG.

Not a big deal. I still will buy plenty from GOG, regardless.

Have you seen the website? You think they have programmers capable of building an app with that kind of feature set?

Just a question. It may be planned in the future. It may not. I think someone from GOG needs to answer this one.
Why not just use a controller that can configure to game standards, like an 8Bitdo, which has Xinput, Dinput, PS4 imitation mode, and more built right inn?

Edit: Dosbox games don't really need a configuration anyway, was DOSbox comes with one inbuilt.

Devs or GoG could have bought or bundle something like this* with games to deal with controllers. Realistically there should have been proper controller set ups in games themselves instead of forcing gamers to wait until 3rd party programs came along. This situation wasn't helped with everyone jumping on the dumbed down xbox360 pad.

Is glovepie still around and working?

I use an 8BitDo dongle with a PS4 controller and it's definitely the path of least resistance to using one without any fuss (plug and play, no software to install)... however, what the OP is most likely referring to is the customizability that Steam gives you access to when using a non Steam Controller... re-mapping buttons, actions, etc. Yah... there's always Input Mapper, but that app is a last resort for me... it's such a horrendous user experience... wish that guy would work with a UI designer

What I would really love to see is a Galaxy mode like Big Pic that works with a controller... I use my NVIDIA Shield's to stream my desktop to my TV and it works great when you add the Galaxy client as a "game" in GeForce Experience and then you can launch the games through Galaxy so you're still getting Achievements, etc... but a mode that was controller friendly would be awesome

Shadowman is still a pain in the ass setting up a controller regardless if it steam or gog. However, through Steam's Big Picture, I was able to search for a preset config for xbox 360 controller for LOK Defiance, and it works great.

So games are hit and miss with steam's ap, regardless. The search for a preset config is still a great feature for the steam ap.
Also, at a very minimum, they *could* build a PS4 driver into Galaxy much like the Uplay client... every Uplay game works with the PS4 controller with no additional software cause the driver is built into the client... it's probably the only feature of Uplay I like

To which Ubisoft probably pays a fair fee for use of. I'm sure there's some complication.

There's ways to do it without Sony's input... see here:

That's why a lot of Unity games support the PS4 controller natively... that's not a Sony-sanctioned plugin, so it can be done without Sony's involvement or a substantial cost
