I want to throw another giveaway together soon and I'm looking to the community to find some great, underrated games on GOG. I'm terrible at picking games! Honestly, most of my giveaways haven't been that great.

Depending on how things go, I'm looking at doing 1-3 separate GOG games that the community at large wouldn't already have (so no Torchlight or Deus Ex). As part of the process, I'm awarding the "answer" to the best suggestion. A brief statement as to why you think it should be included is recommended.

Here are my 2 underrated, hidden-gem suggestions:

_ Jagged Alliance
https://www.gog.com/game/jagged_alliance
An excellent tactical strategy. Non-linear with lots of side quests and a decent story. What really does set it apart though is the different personalities of the mercenaries with excellent voice acting. It's not just different numerical stats. Each mercenary has a different character with its own likes, dislikes and quirks. He might not want to work with another merc, leave if you fire too many people or do too poorly (in which case he may or may not stay if you offer him more money), decide to go on "vacation" if you entrust them with too much cash. Some refuse to take orders in the heat of combat, others have no qualms about snitching on their team-mates and one even gets scared if he gets to kill a person. You really get attached to your team as the game progresses.

_Imperialism
https://www.gog.com/game/imperialism
A very nice turn-based strategy, about which not so many people seem to have heard. What I loved about it is the fact that everything is intertwined, so you cannot concentrate on just one thing, say the army, and leave out everything else. You need an army to maintain your borders, but you need a good economy to support that army, and you need civilians and industry for the strong economy, for which you need resources, which could otherwise be spent on the army, or merchant marine, which is needed to buy those raw resources, or sell finished goods for the money, which can be spent on the army, or new technology to make army better or improve your infrastructure... etc... etc... Avery balance and well done game.
Falcon Collection & IL-2 1946. I've been thinking of making a flight simulator GA for some time, together with a guide for Falcon BMS & IL-2 modding (UP3) among others.. I guess I'll have wait for a big sale for this to happen though since we have too many sims on GOG, both old & older.
Hector Badge Of Carnage - the funnest game I've played and one of the most enjoyable point and click games to. I don't think many people have played it either and it never got a sequel. Not your typical telltale affair, it's got far more character

Little Big Adventure - classic art and story if you can stomach the slightly difficult controls at times and 90s graphics.

Sanitarium - on my wishlist, a classic by all accounts, I hadn't heard of it until recently.

The Guild - I bought this on sale recently, the concept looks really interesting, an RPG Strategy where you seek your fortune in moral and immorale ways while looking to procreate and pass on your legacy to your children (I've probably done it a disservice in the description so watch the videos). 2 best versions (from reviews):

It's not a game I hear anyone discuss.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines - another game on my wishlist, looks quite the unusual innovative Vampire RPG that probably hasn't been played by many I'm guessing.

1954 Alcatraz - not sure if it's on GOG, played it on steam from a sale. A 1920s film noir interracial relationship prison bust, unusual, I loved the atmosphere, art and voice acting.

Moebius Empire Rising - overall a pretty good adventure game from Gabriel Knight's writer. I wrote a review of it if you want a thorough lowdown. It's probably one that only hardcore point and click fans have gone to.
Well, I don't know if it can be considered underrated or whether the community at large already has it but I rarely see it mentioned here except during the release of Chapters and that sale. Maybe it's simply due to the fact that it's an adventure game and quite an old one... I'm talking about The Longest Journey. Its story is grounded in reality and not over the top, making it feel more realistic and personal. World-building is good too, it has books that you can read yet none of them is required to progress or to solve any puzzles. It practically has all the right elements that you would expect in an adventure game, even some time traveling (sort of). Lastly, the content is hefty and more importantly, very self-contained.

It is one of the best adventure games I've played. I suppose it depends if most people have played them it or not yet

supplementscene: Sanitarium - on my wishlist, a classic by all accounts, I hadn't heard of it until recently.
A masterpiece!
Stasis - Because it is a new and innovative point and click adventure game. It has some renewed interest because of the free game Cayne (on steam) which is the prequel to Stasis, recently being released. It is also being talked about because the makers now have a new game that is in kickstarter, Beautiful Desolation that looks very promising.

Good luck with the giveaway.
Armed & Dangerous- Simply put the funniest game I ever played. Hilarious cutscenes, absurd humor, weapons like the landshark launcher or the topsy-turvy (rotate the entire world upside down so the enemeis fall off!). I don't think it ever got the recognition it deserved, probably becuase it was too outlandish for the general public.

Apotheon- original, incredibly atmospheric with superbly fun and satisfying gameplay. One of my ver favourite games from my GOG collection.

A Story About My Uncle- I picked it up on sale because it was cheap, not knowing much about it, and it turned out to be a pretty great title. Nice graphics with very fun "jumping puzzle" gameplay (and this coming from someone who usually hates first person platforming). But what I like about it the most is the way it tells an emotional and open to interpretation story through the game itself.

Tiny & Big Very unique puzzle platformer build aroud giving the player the power to literally cut up and rearrange the world around him. Never played anything else quite like it, and that's damn shame.

I'll second that. A very good adventure, good story, and maybe most importantly- the puzzles all make perfect sense. There is no random guessing here, no nonsensical sollutions. You can get through the entire game without any hints or walkthroughs.

Aye, a real gem back in the day and I believe it had withstood the test of time well enough. Too bad its sequel won't be seeing the light of day... No, I'm not talking about Dreamfall or Chapters. I've already forgotten the planned title and looking it up now is just going to be heartbreaking, lol...
Not to be the "downer" guy, but...aren't 1954 Alcatraz and Little Big Adventure games that most people have? If memory serves me correctly, those are particularly hard to get people to take.
Rage of mages and Rage of mages 2
Excellent mix of strategy and RPG. Really good games.

Vangers
The craziest, unusual and unbelievable game on GOG.

Check these games out. The are old and cheap but if you are into them you won't regret it ;-)

Not sure, I know LBA2 was free (not 1) so most people have it.
Here is my 3 suggestions to help you, good luck :

- The Void : weird and hard game the first time you play it, but its atmosphere is unique ( almost oniric) and its gameplay very original. Besides, it just received new languages support, including the polish version which is a different version of the english one, almost a new game (a translation patch is available on the net, though).

- Sin Gold : one of the most entertaining FPS from the 90's I played. Fun, non-linear (different paths to the main story, with hidden or side levels for a good replayability), a lot of humor and references to the pop culture, a memorable villain... Better than Half-Life in many points !

- LionHeart : Legacy of the Crusaders : The most underrated game of the Black Isle studios, probably because of the issues during its development and the facts that people hoped a medieval Fallout (the Special ruleset) and received a game closer to Icewind Dale. Very interesting plot, good soundtrack, maybe a bit too focused on hack & slash, but if you like 2D RPGs, it worths it.

You are right. Little Big Adventure was given away for free a while ago (long before part 2 was free). And 1954 Alcatraz was really cheap (0,99 €) in some sales and most people who don't own it yet seem to be the ones that are not interested in P & C games in general.
