sxnc: Sweet! It was only last week I downloaded MechCommader Gold and the game worked perfectly even when I used a virtual drive to run the ISO. If only GOG were to get their hands on these freeware versions it would be less of a hassle for the end user to go through all the hoops and get them running properly.
Where did you get that?
I am sure I use to have a download of that but it was misplaced among a ton of other downloads.

leon30: Personality I don't hate the iso format, but it requires a little more involvement than the exe. With iso one must write the image on an optical disk or mount it with virtual CD/DVD software and then double click the setup.exe (if no auto-load) - with the exe you just double-click it and the installation starts :)

haydenaurion: Not to mention you have to be careful to not get virtual CD/DVD software that has adware and spyware, that's one reason why I don't mess with the ISO stuff. I just wish EA would release the C&C games on gog already so we could play them without having to deal with this other stuff.
What are the chances of the freeware games coming to GOG? Maybe a $10 pack with all the C&C and RA games?

JMich: Get a newer OS that supports ISO mounting. But that is a problem with all disk images, not only ISO. So BIN/CUE has the same problem as well, but the hate was towards ISO specifically, thus my question.
Does Win 7 support ISO mounting?

Natively? No. Double clicking an ISO without any extra software will open the ISO burning dialog, to write it on a disc. See the thread for suggestions for other software to use.

I thought so. Which OSes support native ISO mounting like you said? I'd like to know about those since I'm already aware about software that can do it.

-EDIT- Nevermind, I just checked the previous threads and saw you said it's only Win 8 so far.

Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, Windows 10. Also Linux and Mac, multiple versions of those, unsure which ones.

As much as I prefer Windows to other OSes, Windows isn't the only OS out there.
