It’s up to you alone to stop an alien invasion from the depths of the ocean in this legendary, home computer era shoot ‘em up, dredged up and faithfully rebuilt for modern platforms – X-Out Resurfaced, coming soon on GOG!

In 1990, the year of X-Out’s initial release on C64, it stood out as a breath of fresh seaside air in the stale shoot 'em-up space. It didn’t take place in “space” as so many games of its genre did (and still do) but instead went for a dive through underwater worlds.

In 2024 the highly challenging underwater shoot ‘em up from the game development legends at Rainbow Arts is finally returning. ININ and Ziggurat have collaborated to bring you a faithful remake completely rebuilt from the ground up and greatly improved.

Wishlist it now!

Sluggotg: I am a SERIOUS GOG Fan. I own 2,438 Games on GOG. I am, however very disappointed with how GOG is handling X-Out Resurfaced. Over 8 months ago they said "Coming Soon". Clearly it didn't happen and may never happen. If they would say "Steam has exclusive sales rights for 9 months, ( or several years?), then we will be able to sell it", I would understand. Zero updates and clearly being deceptive. Right now, you can buy X-Out Resurfaced $13.99. GOG is clearly playing games with us. After 8 months of silence, I am buying it on Steam. It is my opinion that GOG has Zero deals in place for X-Out and is just leading us on. Maybe in a few years, if they start offering the game, (at a low price), I will buy a copy from GOG. Why are they doing stuff like this to us?
Well, I can understand you, I'm disappointed too.

However, I don't really know what the problem is—whether it's the rights holder, GOG, or whatever.

One thing I know for sure, though, is that I won't buy it on Steam. It'll either be here at GOG or itch.io as an offline installer, or not at all.
GOG probably can't even publically say that they're forbidden to say anything in regards to a release's ETA, lest they risk a breach of contract and the release not happening at all.

If you watch this recent interview, there are a couple of instances where they have to pause and make sure not to say anything that could be taken the wrong way by their partners. The same applies to these coming soon announcements most of the time - that a game is being released on GOG eventually is all you're going to get. Whether that's on day 1, shortly after the release elsewhere or worst case scenario, years later more often than not GOG is simply forbidden to disclose.

If there's someone you could/should call out for being malicious in this then it's the one that's putting these contractual muzzle clauses in place.

BanditKeith2: I get the feeling you are trolling with most of what you wrote given your accounts age,Mainly if you truly are such a fan and been watching. You'd know its been the the norm for years for Gog to mention they have a game in the pipeline around two years or so before they get it... Rarely is it less then a years wait and its more common to randomly have games show up here with no prior statement
So you feel that because I have "Only" been a member since DEC 2013, I know nothing about GOG and I am just a Troll? Remarkable conclusion. When a company says "coming soon", people assume it is Coming Soon. 8 months later and Zero updates is not Coming Soon. I bought the game on the Amiga back when it came out. I wanted to buy it from GOG but they do not actually have it for sale. That is why I gave up and bought it on Steam as a last resort. BTW, Why do you think you're "Extra Salty" because you started in 2018 and I started in 2013? You made the "given your accounts age" comment. I am missing your point on that.

Reason is even I a member sense 2018 knows how Gogs coming soon works in most cases or just''upcoming'' announcements So it should be clear to one whos been around way longer then myself how things work here. Rather then get all worked up at this piont over a common situation to the point of saying Gog is playing games with us and asssuming they have no deals in place for a game after so long

Basically your comment I first replied to comes off as either a standard nowadays trolling comment or not knowing how Gog does things despite how long you've been here..

Edit. I don't get how you see me as''Salty'' when anyone should get easily the''account age'' comment when my prior comments context was clearly in reference to how you don't seem to get how gogs coming soon and upcoming announcements work to the piont to assume negative intentions or even implied them illegally having a claim they have a game coming when not as yes a company or store advertisers/stating a product coming without a deal for it to common is illegal
