squid830: So, what's the "nordic" part though? Does that mean it somehow involves Viking archeology? Does the plot involve stopping Ragnarok, or stopping someone from attempting to realise Raganarok?
Is it simply a cool way of saying "this story happens to be set in some Scandinavian country"?
ConsulCaesar: "Nordic noir" has become a very succesful subgenre in literature and TV in recent years (at least in Europe). It usually depicts a crime investigation with very dark or gruesome elements, exploring social topics, and of course set in Scandinavia. Think Stieg Larsson, Asa Larsson, Camilla Lackberg or Henning Mankell, or TV's
The Killing or
The Bridge.
Ahhhhhhh, OK that makes sense. I have fond memories of a couple of Nordic crime thriller series I watched years ago - might have been The Bridge, or something similar.
I had no idea that this somehow became a separate genre though. I figured it would slot neatly under crime/thriller, just that the Scandinavians have a slightly different way of going about it (which could be said about all countries really - crime thrillers tend to have a distinct flavour based on where they're from, be they British, American, German, Brazilian/Columbian, etc.).
While I still would have liked a techno viking, this does bode rather well - Nordic crime stories tend to be much grittier than the British ones, yet a lot more believable than the American ones. Plus they tend to be a good counter to the stereotypical pro-SJW view of Scandinavian countries.
Will be keeping an even closer eye on this now.
squid830: Looks cool. You had me at sci-fi + noir, which is rare indeed (Tex Murphy series, Gemini Rue, Blade Runner, Technobabylon...).

Or does it feature one or more TECHNO VIKINGS??
The latter would be sweet, but that anime-like static-screen-with-panning doesn't reveal much, apart from revealing a lack of bass (so probably no techno vikings).
supplementscene: The producers are from nordic countries, it's "a collaboration between Kathy Rain creator Joel Hästö and The Samaritan Paradox maker Petter Ljungqvis".
I played both of these games and really enjoyed the story telling and the plot of both so ofcourse I'm looking forward to this game and hope they make money out of it
I haven't played those (and this is the first I've heard of The Samaritan Paradox) - will have to check them out. I'm a sucker for anything noir-ish.
