gamesfreak64: niche.....

its not that much and there are more companies with better results , but i wouldnt mind a revenue like this:
check attachment: bigfish2014-2018.jpg

i know its world wide but still a nice amount of $ made by selling niche(games) 2014 was low but check the others :D nice amount of niche $ :D

Anyway, niche doesnt have to be bad, i have seen many games that aren't niche even many AAA games look like sh its.
Big Fish Games ? That company was already sold two times .

tinyE: In college I played a lot of Druglord.
Hey I remember that game! Was pretty addictive at the time...
LOL at people complaining this shouldn't be on GOG for various bizarre reasons. Probably trolls, but just in case they actually believe what they write:

People who think this is somehow promoting illegal stuff need to remember:

1) It's actually legal in the location(s) as depicted in the game.

2) Weed is the safest "illegal drug" in the world. Throughout history, a grand total of ZERO people have died from weed. Compare that to the vast numbers that die in ANY GIVEN COUNTRY, PER YEAR, due to ALCOHOL ALONE (which is legal everywhere except countries with extremist governments). Or compared to PARACETAMOL (which is not only legal but prescribed by chemists). Or cigarettes. Or...

3) People complaining about a game because it has "illegal substances" in it, while simultaneously NOT complaining about other stuff in other games which is not only also illegal but actually damaging to other people - have serious problems with consistency and logic. They are, amazingly, even more stupid than people that complain about violence against animals, or whaling, or various other things in games. Either that or they're trolls having a laugh.

Most importantly, if this game offends you in some bizarre way, there's a really simple solution: don't buy it.

David9855: Another controversial game for gog to divide its customer base over. Not saying I'm picking a side over the specific, game just another move that adds more shock then sales. Gogs business managers must be idiots.

Next up in the store:
Slavery tycoon
Prostitution tycoon
Meth tycoon
illegal gun running tycoon
Murder tycoon

5/10 IGN play it with an energy drink.
I think meth tycoon exists - and if it doesn't, someone should make one based on Breaking Bad. It would sell for sure!

Prostitution tycoon - definitely worth a buy that one, hookers haven't really been seen as business assets in games that often.

Slavery Tycoon - definitely more controversial, judging by all the crybabies that whine about it when it's depicted in games. Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure one can effectively be a slave tycoon in at least ONE game out there - possibly a pirates clone? Maybe a mod for Mount and Blade? It was a legitimate business back in the day - in more "recent" times, in ancient times (e.g. Rome etc.), and even in current times. Actually, current times slavery tycoon would tie in perfectly with Prostitution Tycoon! Also People Smuggling Tycoon!

Illegal Gun Running Tycoon - meh, available in lots of games already, albeit as periphery activity. Would be best combined with Slavery, Prossie and/or meth tycooon. Basically any game featuring the mob has this.

You forgot Prohibition Tycoon - though it's been done (e.g. 1930's chicago etc.). It's more "mafia manager" though.

Murder Tycoon - you could be an Eastern European snuff movie manufacturer! And you could lure people to the "movies", hire other "stars" (ie murderers) and then come up with ever more screwed up ways to murder people, and film it for profit! Manhunt already did this from the POV of the murderer, but your idea of making a Tycoon game from this is awesome!

BTW are there really people that play games AND are "shocked" by marijuana? Unless they only play ultra-pacifistic games with no theft or killing, these people are extreme hypocrites with serious mental and emotional problems.

djdarko: Someone should make a Scooby-Doo type mystery investigation game where we uncover the truth behind GOG's method of deciding which games are too "niche" for it's store, and how some surprisingly bypass that filter.

The problem is, the game will be rejected by GOG for being too "niche" and end up as a Steam only title.

GA01: I have been told several times by developers in the Steam forums that they were rejected by GOG. These were really good indie games but they were rejected and then you get this which I would never think to be on GOG get accepted. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I presume.
Yeah I wouldn't mind knowing who is actually involved in the approval process on the GOG side, and what the rationale is for their decisions.

I would expect "personal preference" to feature strongly - even if it's never explicitly stated.

I like the fact that we get a fair number of freaky/weird/niche titles here on GOG - but I also agree that there are definitely some good games on other platforms that are not here yet for some reason. And by "good" I don't just mean "interesting to me" (although admittedly that's my prime motivation) - they have also received decent review scores (not that review scores mean much these days, but still).

Zoidberg: Weed, America and corporations...

Three things I couldn't care less, two I'd rather not have in this world.

maybe GOG wants to try and get more recognised developers here, plenty of konami games id love to see here and the dynasty warriors series, indie games shouldnt be a priority on GOG, im still suprised that old fifa titles from the 90's arent here cos theme park is an EA made game and thats from 1993

For FIFA, I expect it's partly from the FIFA license having expired or or otherwise causing problems. Basically the same reason some of the games here don't have their original soundtracks.

Maybe - didn't know something like this already existed to be honest! Might be alright for a laugh.

This must be one of the few games I didn't get back in the Amiga days...
