Wirvington: I remember playing Trine 1 back in the day and what a gem of a game it was. The level design, art, concept, and soundtrack were so unique. Good to know the series has continued to its fifth instalment. It's awesome to see it alive and kicking here as well.
I agree!

The Trine games are also the most beautiful looking games I've ever seen. The art style is really amazing!

tag+: Reason to hold the purchase of the collection here
The day I get a decent gamepad, I got them all here. That's a fact!

Breja: Really? Are the Trine games any good with a gamepad? I alway thought that playing them with a pad would be terrible, what with aiming the bow and moving all the stuff conjured by the wizard, which tends to require a fair bit of precision.
T1, the only one I have & played (half hour) did well...
until I got stuck because levitation didnt work...
(left trigger + the second stick)
But yeah, the small part I played with the archer
no complaints...

You see, I have an obsession to play the Trine series
with gamepad because I want to play them in coop with the kiddos here
(If is weird to me to play platformers with keyboard,
I resist to imagine 2 people sharing the keyboard,
thats a personal No-No. Sure, call it traumatic :))

Which means, I need vgames with the following features:
SPA voice, CoOp & Kids friendly
And those are scarce...

Lets see:

DONE (perfect fit):
-LEGO Batman 2; LEGO DC Super Villains

ON QUEUE:
-SpongeBob Bikini; LEGO Batman 3

NEXT ALTERNATIVES (aka Give up features):
-NO voice: Other LEGOs, Rayman Origins; Never Alone; Yooka-Laylee;
Biped; 2 Guacamelees; Brothers A Tale of Two Sons (also "kind of" coop)
-NO SPA voice: Guacamelee! 2; A Hat in Time; Octodad;
Nine Parchments; Rad Rodgers; Asterix & Obelix XXL 3; Timespinner

OUT:
-The Smurfs: The coop is a sub companion
-Spelunky: No voice
-Cuphead: No voice, difficult
-Overcookeds: No voice & want to play, Not to work!
-Pikuniku: Difficult despite its kiddie appearance

As you can see, Im running out of inventory
& Trine is my best bet... and are 5 vgames...
That will be probably the tipping point
to buy a couple of Xbox gamepads to keep going...
Or... follow the side gig of the solo platformers
(one play while the other watch...)
Or... consider the bunch of No voice side scrollers shooters

I swear: After decades, I never imagined vgaming would be so limited
The business owes us a lot
Sure: People can learn English, can read, can play with K&M,
can buy consoles, can this & can that... yes
But I cheer the few companies doing multi language voice & CoOp
and just because that, I really wish this vgame does well
Hero Spotlight | Pontius the Knight

"He likes to fight and eat pie: Meet Pontius the Knight, Protector of the Realm, the frontline hero who is always going head first into battle with his trusty shield and sword."

*sigh* One day, the excessive use of acronyms on the internet will drive me crazy, I swear.
Okay fine, I'll be the fool that needs to ask: What does SPA stand for (as in "SPA voice")?

Socialist Party of America ?
Saudi Press Agency ?
Scottish Publishers Association ?
Seychelles Port Authority ?

edit:
Oh, and regarding your list, I would like to suggest HFF.
Sadly, it's not on GOG yet and it doesn't have voice (but really doesn't need it either).

BreOl72: The fifth already?
I haven't bought the fourth, yet.
You should. It's better than the third and returns to the fun of 1 and 2.

Happy to see that the fifth sticks to 2.5D and nice that the series continues.

Sure, its from ISO 639-2 Language Codes
SPA Spanish

On one hand, In general, I agree on the excess of acronyms,
context & deduction needed to figure them out correctly
Not always easy for non-English natives like you & me

On the other hand, when typing, I find them useful...

Anyway, I apologize. And dont worry, if doubt, just ask
I can easily remember asking on this forum
about PSA or that sort and I got a gentle reply
It's the less I can do now
Thanks for asking and for the suggestion

ReynardFox: It's a shame we'll likely never see another attempt at a fully 3D Trine game, there's a lot of missed potential in Trine 3.
From what I played of Trine 3 I thought it was better than 4. I'm not sure what it was people don't like about it.

Thx for answering! Had somehow thought of technology, not language.

Most people couldn't get over the full 3D. I didn't mind, but what I disliked was that there was no character progression. You don't unlock anything new during the game, no new abilities are introduced. The game is also piss easy with auto-heal. Might as well just have been an interactive movie. The only things I liked about it were the graphics and the story - which unfortunately ended after what could be considered act 1.

Combine that with Trine's 4 direction of completely and absolutely ignoring its existence and any story/lore progression (which was actually kind of interesting in Trine 3), and you land on a game that is mostly pointless to play. It looks beautiful but is also unfinished.

I haven't played a lot of it. But I thought it controlled better and looked better than 4. But I agree not upgrading abilities makes it less interesting.
I haven't even finished the first one. I'm Trine to catch up!
I've always wanted to get into this series! Time to play all four prequels before this one releases.
Either that, or just wait and start with entry five. Decisions, decisions!
