Snap back to reality, oh there goes gravity.

The Caligula Effect: Overdose is coming soon DRM-free.

We have to go back... This perfect place, where you get to experience the best version of your high school years, it's just a fabrication, a trap designed by a sentient program! School your enemies with turn-based attacks that you can plan in advance and chain together for maximum efficiency. Gather the rest of the Go-Home Club and let's escape this -rather fascinating- visual prison together.

Hikage1983: Apparently the porting job is being handled by Engine Software DV, a dutch developer who most recently ported Suda51's Killer7 to pc (steam, also published by NISA). Overall reviews are very positive for that and a quick forum glance did not reveal any major port quality issues. So here's hoping.

darktjm: What exactly is being translated? The voices as well? Did they translate voices for the other title? I hope they still ship with Japanese voices and English subtitles, if so, but I guess it wouldn't be the end of the world if they didn't.
The game will feature japanese audio with english, korean and chinese subs. It's right there on the game page.
In my post i was referring to the technical aspect of the port, not the translation. Apologies for any confusion.

I actually have not looked into that matter just yet . The original vita version was translated by Atlus. There is also the recent translation by H2 Interactive who published Overdose in south east asia and included english subs (which may or may not be based on Atlus')
Sooo i would think it would be cheaper and more time effective for NISA to have licenced those instead of starting from scratch.
Note that this is just speculation on my part.

Insta-wishlisted, and will wait until after the reviews are out to see if its a good port and how good the translation is for the game

Ixamyakxim: Looks cool! Kinda get that Persona vibe - anyone with a bit more info / that has played it (think I saw someone say it was on the Vita) care to compare it to that?

I'm always down with some of these console style JRPGs coming out on PC.

Yeshu: Well, considering the main writer did work on the Persona series than it's a given it would be a little similar.
Awesome didn't know this - will keep an eye on it (Persona 4 is probably one of my all time favorites).
Very odd little gem.

Just when I had my wishlist under control, it grows again!

J_Darnley: NISA have their shitty fingers on this one? Two questions before I watch any videos. First, is this a port from PS-whatever? Second, is this a new localization/release or is there existing work we can judge the quality of?
avatar
Lucumo: PS4 port....which is still better than any port from a handheld. First localization for it...but who knows whether a second (or modified) one will be needed.
Thanks for that.

Also good to know.

tremere110: Looking forward to this in March!
Or right around Halloween if it ends up being like Ys VIII...

Hopefully NIS America learned how to release a PC game, that's not a low spec SRPG or a dungeon crawler, between then and now.

Excited though, as this was one of the games that came out AFTER my Vita died, so with Mary Skelter being here already (and Touhou Genso Wanderer showing up on Steam) there's only Demon Gaze II (preferably a double feature with both games as I wouldn't mind going through the original again) left to hope for a PC port and potential GOG release to make the games I missed on Vita no longer missed.
