So hyped for this one. Apparently, the main character is Captain Piper Faraday's son, so it plays roughly a steambot generation after the first Heist.
Great news, I had an absolute blast with the first one. Glad to see they didn't change it too much, like going 3D or something.

Holy shit! He wrote something positive about a game.

Gameplay reveal trailer (they'll be doing several of these I guess):

Some really good choices made in my opinion.

I like what i see, same gameplay, improved with new details and better graphics. Hope specs will be low for playing on my old pc gamer.

What will be interesting is the class system as it allows you to carry over skills between jobs once they are learned, so you could have a heavy artillery user with the precision aim of a Sniper.
And just like Steamworld Build, no Linux version. All the other Steamworld games have one. Pfft...

Give it a little time. Build is a special case because it's unfortunately built on the necrotic Unity engine. I guess they're going back to handcrafted C++ for Heist 2, and it's the same team after all.
Story Deep Dive

"The Great Sea Shard is brimming with secrets, missions, and stories waiting to be uncovered...

Join us for another Deep Dive where we explore the watery world that sets the stage for SteamWorld Heist II - and take a look at the overworld gameplay! Learn all about Captain Quincy Leeway and his loyal steam-mates Daisy and Wesley, dive into mysterious waters filled with dangers, discover thrilling ship combat, and more in this latest Deep Dive for SteamWorld Heist II - coming to PC on August 8th!"
Bold choice, balancing turn based strategy with balls to the wall overworld action. They seem to take the Dig 2 as the blueprint and challenge you with new game mechanics throughout the game. I'm up for that!
Extended Gameplay Trailer

"Join us for this exciting playthrough of an early mission in SteamWorld Heist II! In this extended gameplay trailer, Art Director Brandt Andrist explores our upgrade system, turn-based combat, hidden treasures, mysterious encounters, and more."
It's both funny and ironic that a game with Steamworld in its title is going to be sold on GOG as well.
Well, I actually take more issue with the word "heist" because it is pronounced pretty much similarly to " haist' " which is used with "haist' paska!", which is basically saying F U to someone (literally "sniff shit", but the same meaning).

Not nice, not nice at all. Haist' Paska 2.

I think every language is bound to have a couple of those. Inverse example for czech: "bič", which means whip is pronounced exactly the same as bitch. So one could say "Indiana Jones má bič" (Indiana Jones has a whip), which might sound somewhat confusing if an english speaker overhears that sentence :P

... Rolls Royce once tried to introduce a car model named "Mist" to Germany ... where "Mist" means "manure" ... so it happens. ;)

The gameplay vids they're putting out look good so far. The biggest change is the action-y overworld, from where missions can be picked. The ship's captain, due to his armlessness, won't go on missions (at first at least).

But there also seem to be some small tweaks to the overall challenge design that could have interesting effects. The single heist mission isn't a self contained challenge any longer. You can apparently go on several missions successively without visiting an inn/bar, retaining all injuries and scrapped characters, with a bonus added (to cash and/or reputation, I guess) when you really challenge yourself. You'll cash in on your day's rewards only when you visit that bar. If you risk one mission too many and get scrapped ... all the day's rewards are lost, like tears in the rain.

Damn, I'm excited!
