Hot spot indicator? What sorcery is this?!

Simon the Sorcerer & Simon the Sorcerer 2: 25th Anniversary Edition are coming soon, DRM-free to GOG.com.
He can be arrogant. He can be obnoxious. He can drive your favorite fairytale characters nuts. If that wasn't enough, he's now also enhanced for his 25th Anniversary! Sporting a modernized control scheme, upscaled visuals, new animations and the option to mix and match all the cool new features with those of the original versions, Simon is back and ready to point & click his way into infamy once more.

The Anniversary editions will be released on April 3rd. The original versions will be removed from sale and added to these as a bonus goodie.
Each Anniversary Edition will cost 8.99 USD.
Owners of the original games will get a 50% discount on them.
Getting both Anniversary editions will grant you a 10% bundle discount.

cwalter5: There is no justification. If GOG cares about quality it should simply refuse to sell these "remasters". Selling them says it's ok.

The name of your site is Good Old Games. Stand up for yourselves and make sure the originals remain the originals.

SirPrimalform: They have a choice, sell the remasters with the originals as a bonus OR don't sell Simon 1+2 in any form.
Are you suggesting the latter?
Yes, I am suggesting they shouldn't sell it. They are a well established player in their niche and currently have the clout necessary to enforce such a policy. Doing so would be consistent with their values and help separate them from other players that have no qualms about filling their store front with garbage.

Allowing publishers to rewrite history with low quality remakes runs counter to their mission and could easily degrade the quality of their store front.

Nip this bad behavior in the bud now before it has a lasting effect on the community.

Fair enough. It would mean no Simon for anyone new (I assume those who already had it would keep it). The 25th Anniversary versions would be available on Steam, but if I am correct then they don't come with the originals there.

I think you make a good point, but I think the cost would be too high. If GOG took this hard line stance then there would be no originals for any new customers. At least this way people can still get the original versions by buying the terrible 'remaster'.

They do.

- Bonus materials: Soundtrack (FLAC) + Original Manual + Art Book + Legacy Editions as FREE downloadable content (DLCs) for Windows, macOS and Linux (Multiple languages).
So, if GOG said no to the remasters, they would just hand over any future sales of the games to Steam on a silver platter.

Indeed.

Well this is probably the reason they dropped the "Good Old Games" name a few years back, they were planning ahead for this.
