An action-horror adventure spanning the realms of the living and the dead – Shadowman®: Darque Legacy is coming soon to GOG!

For centuries, the Boniface family has carried a dark legacy - the mantle of the Shadowman, walker between worlds, sworn to preserve the veil between life and death. Now, novice Shadowman Jack Boniface is thrust into the path of a growing evil that threatens everything his predecessors fought for. Building upon the decades of Shadowman tales told within Valiant Comics, this new chapter is an original story developed in partnership with Valiant Entertainment.

In Shadowman®: Darque Legacy, duel against a horrifying cast of enemies in challenging, visceral combat. Clash with the fanatical Brethren cultists, from hammer-wielding brutes to sorcerous necromancers, and battle truly wretched creatures that have slithered forth from the most desolate depths. Deliver brutal and bloody finishers with a range of Shadowman weapons.

"Shadowman: Darque Legacy is an upcoming action-horror game by Blowfish Studios. Unlike the first two games, which launched way back in 1999 and 2002, the latest iteration will feature a new hero—Jack Boniface, a novice Shadowman who's sworn to protect the living from the land of the dead. As such, the newly appointed hero will venture between Liveside and Deadside, two worlds parallel to one another, each housing the living and the dead, respectively.

According to Russel Brown, president of consumer products at Valiant Entertainment, Darque Legacy will be “a brand-new, out-of-continuity Shadowman story.”"

"Darque Legacy, unlike the original Acclaim Comics that depicted Michael LeRoi's expeditions between the Liveside and Deadside, will focus its attention of Jack Boniface, a “novice” Shadowman whose purpose is to carry the family's legacy by becoming the next protector of the Liveside. Armed with the Shadow Loa—a voodoo power that grants its wielder a series of all-powerful abilities, you will venture forth and balance out the scales, halting the dead from passing over from the Deadside.

In Blowfish Studios' own words: “For centuries, the Boniface family has carried a dark legacy – the mantle of the Shadowman, walker between worlds, sworn to preserve the veil between life and death. Now, novice Shadowman Jack Boniface is thrust into the path of a growing evil that threatens everything his predecessors fought for.”"

I hope this release will live up to the 1999 adventure...
The screenshots and trailer show nice horror aesthetics, but they give zero indication as to whether or not it might be a good game.

I think they should have waited and not announced this until after they first had something worthwhile to demonstrate.
Well, in my mind souls-like hack and slash doesn't really mix with horror, no matter what the aesthetic. Pale colors, dark environments and slaughterhouses do not make horror..

Also TPP so obviously it cannot be good :P
It says we get to 'duel against a horrifying cast of enemies', but the images all look like walking simulator stuff.

Also, rather than feeling unsettled, I just felt embarrassed for the creators of the teaser trailer.
I have no idea what type of game we're getting. Hopefully it's third person like the original games. Brave of them to go with a different character but probably the correct thing to do.
Third Person Perspective? No thanks, no buy.

I'm guessing you didn't like the original games then?
i don't envy the devs on this. it's gonna be hard to live up to the legacy of the first one. the original managed a fantastic dark and brooding feel to it even though graphics of the day didn't give you much to work with.
