If you’re a fan of Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II, we have something special to join our catalog soon!

DLCs Baldur's Gate: Reflections Of Myth & Valor and Baldur's Gate II: Reflections Of Myth & Valor both introduce a possibility to customize your character’s look and feel with sixteen brand new portraits created by Mike Sass! Yes, THE Mike Sass, the original artist who designed all of the portraits of our beloved Baldur’s Gate companions: Minsc, Dynaheir, Jaheira, Khalid, Edwin, Viconia, the list goes on. These 16 portraits represent a huge variety of classes, subclasses, races, and alignments that the Baldur’s Gate games are known for: from a half-orc Swashbuckler, to an elven Priest of Tyr, to a Dwarven Defender. With the impeccable style of Mike Sass, these new portraits are the beginning of your next role-playing adventure.

Wishlist the DLCs now!
Eric Barone releases free update after free update for Stardew Valley, constantly iterating, improving and innovating upon the game and its mechanics, and here we are with these guys charging for some portraits. To say nothing of the fact that there exist entirely free portraits, innumerably more than 16 for sure.

If this is for free? Sure, 100% for it, but we all know it won't be. That sort of makes it easy to paint as a cash grab.

I think people (including me) might be more charitable if this was not Beamdog. The company that took an already existing game, did a "paint by numbers" remaster and somehow messed up so bad that their release was buggier than the original, they added their own Donut Steel OCs on top and then had the audacity to remove the originals from sale. So if you want to play Baldur's Gate now unless you happen to already own the originals in some way, the remasters are the only way. When UbiSoft made the awful Heroes of Might & Magic 3 remaster they did not remove the originals from GOG.

Beamdog are a special kind of scumbags.

I can't deny that. That kind of railroading that I used to complain about only in OSes and productivity software now is been tried in games. I was simply too busy pushing back the usual "politics in videogames" to admit it's "just(ified) rage" (now Conservative edition, since we've had so many years with Ultraprogressive edition and got apparently fed up)

PS I myself bought the Remasters (at a very fair price tbh) but I really just wanted the original content and made sure I would got the classic editions with them, just compatible with modern PCs

GOG.com: These 16 portraits represent a huge variety

Minimum system requirements:
Storage: 5 GB available space
300Mb per Jpeg? Whatever resolution they're in seems excessive for the limitations of the Infinity Engine's GUI.

No, it's probably just the size of the 1st game : nothing is related to the portraits on this point.

Keep in mind those portraits are not released ; so GOG probably just copied / pasted the space requirement from the 1st Baldur's Gate

Plus Beamdog already released some new portraits in the past :

3 males / 3 females (6 MB)....
