CharlesGrey: Gore for no reason might as well be the tagline of the series. There were so many piles of mutilated bodies in the first game, there was a certain humorous aspect to it after a while.

From what I've read, the ghosts in Outlast 2 might just be hallucinations of the main character... ?

Anyhow, any noteworthy changes to the gameplay?
Not that I've noticed.
More like finding a pile of dead children within 10 minutes.
I wouldn't know if the ghosts were hallucinations.

If it's really just more of the same, then it gets a "meh" from me. Will have to wait for the full release and some reviews, but I doubt I'll buy it at full price.

I hope the new Resident Evil will turn out to be more interesting.
I see these kind of horror games more like interactive movie-games. To me their focus is on giving you an immersive cinematic experience, by for example putting you in the shoes of "defenseless" characters like Laurie Strode in Halloween or Nancy Thompson in A Nightmare on Elm Street . This movie-like game design is what makes these kind of horror games fun to watch, especially so if the narrative is really good, as in Outlast and Layers of Fear.

When it comes to actually playing horror games though, I prefer splatter horror like Dead Rising, Dead Island, and Dying Light.

In any case, it's good that GOG gets a direct release, probably at the same time as Steam, that's always nice to see.
It shows that the developers have some respect for GOG customers, that we're not just 'a last resort'.

Lemon_Curry: By the way, thanks for making sure the trailer links are neatly embedded in the news posts maladr0Id. :)
De nada :)

Gotta summon the courage to finish Whistleblower one of these days. I started it too long after finishing the original and it felt overwhelmingly unsettling for some reason :/

Mmmm, not sure the first game was ok.
I just hated not being able to fight back, hide and seek gets boring quickly.

Fairfox: I thinkies as teh first Penumbra (?) gamie demonstrated, s'better to have one mechanic ooor teh other; tryin' to has both just doesn't work so well; fightin' back probs cuts out a lot of teh tension 'n' scares.
Ahhh come on, just a small knife then, no?
I get what you mean, i just miss stabbing things.
