Get ready for a reinterpretation of one of the founding games of the Rail Shooter genre and a nutty multiplayer party game stuffed with madness – Operation Wolf Returns: First Mission and Screaming Chicken: Ultimate Showdown are coming soon to GOG!

Operation Wolf Returns: First Mission adopts the same DNA as in the original arcade game from 1987 (sustained action in an atmosphere straight out of 1980s action films) but offers a new design. Expect new artistic direction, addition of parody style voices, gameplay focused on non-stop action, a campaign that can be played alone or with two players, survival mode (fighting waves of enemies), and an arsenal of weapons.

Screaming Chicken: Ultimate Showdown on the other hand is a wacky multiplayer party game where you can prove that you rule the roost! As the daffiest screaming chickens in stylish outfits you will compete with each other on a wide variety of unique destructible levels. Lots of skills, lots of weapons, lots of destruction, creativity, customization and… fun!

park_84: Man, Operation Wolf, I had completely forgotten about that game.
Does anyone remember its sequel, Operation Thunderbolt? I had fun with that too.
It was a nice game, indeed. Specially because it was "Operation Wolf" on co-op this time.
Screaming Chicken looks like Gang Beasts with guns. ;) Not necessarily a bad thing, especially since it seems to have more personality and flair than the latter. A built-in map editor for such is definitely a plus.
Operation Wolf looks pretty bad, feels like it has a rather generic artstyle
It's a bit of a weird choice to remake to be honest. The entire game is a hyper-repetitive "pop-up firing range" style arcade shooter that was only really fun to play because it was built around using a gun you physically held and aimed at the screen. Take that away and it's likely to be as awkward as playing Wii Sports Archery without a Wii MotionPlus controller...

Hell, I remember playing the C64 version and feeling considerably underwhelmed back in the day. These games never made any sense to me without any kind of Lightgun-like peripheral to play them with.

karnak1: I honestly don't remember the girls in bikini.

karnak1: The Spectrum version (as far as I remember) featured the nurses carrying a stretcher and women who reminded me of the old photos of Vietnamese refugees. Which - as a kid - probably further enhanced the aspect of the "horrors of war". Add to that the uglier monochrome graphics and I guess it made the Spectrum conversion seem more "hard-boiled" than the original arcade version.
The good old days when the same games by name on different platforms sometimes felt like different games altogether. :-)

What in the hell did they do to Operation Wolf?
A shame that Operation Wolf shows no animation ... it looks a lot like Moorhuhn gameplay.

Screaming Chicken looks interesting enough. But it sooooooo needs a couch play / split screen mode. Games like this have to be played by people sitting in the same room.
We used to play Tom & Jerry War of the Whispers with 4 gamepads. This one seems to share the same spirit.
Cartoon-ish graphics doesn't fit well the remake and honestly i despise it to begin with, so, this a no go for me especially after reading the announcement and then watching the shots...

That's probably the issue for me about this version
It will be interesting to see how well the Operation Wolf remake is received based on these graphics.
Well, in nothing else at least this news made me fire up DOS version of Operation Wolf.
It's been a few days of trying hard and "git gudding" and today I finally managed to beat it.
Saved couple of hostages while at it as well, so I did get the Good Ending, yay!
Unfortunate info about Screaming Chicken (from dev's discord) - game won't be released on GOG at all.

Furthermore, it will be delisted from Steam on 1st November (so no longer available for purchase anywhere).
