No Man's Sky: Beyond free content update is coming DRM-free on August 14th.

Jumpstart your engines by getting No Man's Sky 50% off until August 21st, 5 PM UTC.

Beyond will contain three major updates rolled into one larger free release. These changes are a mix of features Hello Games have been dreaming of for a while, and a reaction to how they have seen folks playing since the release of NEXT.

An expanded online experience will bring a radical new social and multiplayer experience which empowers players everywhere in the universe to meet and play together. Meanwhile, VR support will bring the entire game experience to life in virtual reality. Anything possible in No Man’s Sky, NEXT or any other update will soon be ready and waiting as an immersive and enriched VR experience.
The game has come a long way since its initial release.
So the mystery third thing is the vulkan update now or what? Total buzzkill :(

You call this a trailer? Beyond Mediocre, TBH.

For a space game trailer well done look at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zW3YB2ptGws
Been playing the vulkan beta update for a bit, any chance this will be incorporated into Beyond?

Thats not actually the Beyond trailer but the regular old basic NMS E3 trailer from back when PCs where made of wood.

Beyond only has a simple teaser AFAIK. But thats probably because there is not much to show in a trailer. Tons of changes under the hood; yes. But nothing really new to the effect that makes it look too much different to their other trailers I guess.

The Stellaris thing is fancy for an intro/cut scene, but I prefer my trailers gameplay focused. NMS: Next (the previous big patch) was quite neat in that department. https://www.nomanssky.com/2018/07/no-mans-sky-next-trailer/
Are we able to play with our Steam friends?

Thanks for the pointer! Not surprisingly I get the "Moon (2009)" movie vibe, check its trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWoDBcSW4_c (great sci-fi movie BTW)

Edit: beware, trailer has huge spoiler.

I was just thinking the same thing.
I am ready.
I am 2 shades of Ready 1. I am scared to death it is going to break my 300 hour saved game.
2. I don't really mind working a new save with the new content.

Does anyone know if the patch will bust all previous saves NOT backward compatible.?

Thanks

Jan
I guess this is a good time to buy it and try for myself, i hope it's worth it for 50% off and has improved enough.
