Ion Maiden is coming soon, DRM-free to GOG.com.
Bombshell is back, more pissed, determined, and pixelated than ever. This time dispensing violence in first person, she goes on a righteous rampage against a mad cult leader and his cybernetic army. Gonzo FPS action, multi-path levels filled with secrets, guns and guts, plus all the old-school goodness you've come to expect from a shooter spawned by the legendary Build engine which powered Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, and Shadow Warrior.

Note: Owners of Bombshell Digital Deluxe Edition now have access to a preview campaign of Ion Maiden, which includes several hours of gameplay. Look for it as a bonus goodie in your library.

Pond86: Just given it a go, and I must say I like it alot. Very excited for when this gets a full release.
As a sucker for well made Build games, i'm glad to hear this, and judging from your avatar & title you seem to have good taste in FPS games. :P

IFW: As one of the few people who sort of liked Bombshell, I have to say I'd be delighted to see Ion Maiden with modern graphics, not something that looks like running in DOSBox... sorry.
Compare the Ion Maiden screenshots with the Shadow Warrior screenshots and you will see that it already looks more detailed than a game running in DOSBox.

Enebias: Then what's the first?

Oddeus: @tinyE

Please don´t say Metallica.
Better than Maiden? Only possibility is Dickinson's solo work.

Only 3 shooters have ever really grabbed my interest hardcore- Duke 3D, the original Unreal, and C&C Renegade. Sure, Halo was fun in a LAN party and worlds better than any Medal of Duty real-world-army simulator, but after 2 you're drowning in Easter Egg skulls, hidden terminal backstory, and the Chris Carter effect. I know Renegade was a flawed specimen, sure, but there was so much it was aspiring to, I give it a lot of leeway since Westwood rushed it just for EA to drop its support like 3rd period French. You still can't argue with Mammoth Tanks.

So I watch the trailer, I'm watching for the seams in the Build engine, admiring how they've cleaned it up for a modern show, I'm reading about the small arsenal and every weapon has an altfire, how they put some care into level creation for those memorable moments (like how the first Skarj Warrior in the Rajigar Mines will make you afraid of the dark for the next 6 months), and you know, this looks like an FPS I could really sink my teeth into. So, trailer's finishing up, the action looks good, I think we have a keeper.

Then Bombshell belts out Havoc's signature line.

Good sirs, I would have you shut up and take my money....
Thanks for the preview, will check it out tomorrow.
The game looks promising btw. :)
Apparently, Interceptor aka Slipgate is not involved as developer (source: https://www.neogaf.com/threads/ion-maiden-a-build-engine-powered-fps-releasing-2017.1404138/), so the guarantee of this releasing in an unfinished state is void.

Green across the board for this one! Looking forward to it!

Now this is something I would purchase day 1. I love that it looks like pure fun and not concentrating on just graphics.

Main character does not look half bad at all, she looks a little like the bombshell girl, Any connection?

Vadalma: One question I do have (like Yoda): so Bombshell doesn't have that metal arm anymore or will she get it later? I looked at the screenshots and the promo video and it looks like, she has real (flesh) arms.
Well the download is called "Retro FPS Prequel Demo (Ion Maiden) " so I suspect it's probably a prequel (that's said it could also mean that the demo is a prequel to the Ion Maiden game...)

Yes. Just, yes.
Wasn't too interested in Bombshell, but this looks plain awesome! Glad to see the Build engine getting some fresh blood.
Kinda reminds me of when Bloodrayne found new life as a 2D hand drawn beatemup.

Breja: I know I'm going to get a ton of hate for being a wet blanket, but I'm just not that hyped by this. I'm just tired of devs milking nostalgia and making games that look like it's 1997. Look, there's a lot of old games I love and still play. But I want new games to be... well, just that- new.

Though I'll admit, proper level design instead of the seemingly everpresent procedural generation is the one thing here that sounds interesting.
But, not many new games is new either. Most modern games have been already done before. So if you mean new by new concepts and fresh ideas i think you have to wait a long time unless by new you just mean better graphics.

yeah I still haven't finished that though. still it was OK. I trailed off with it once the cheese kicked into high gear.

let's go more 3D Realms goodness. I haven't played bombshell but I was thinking about playing it soon. I've been thinking about it lately. I bet I'm gonna like it alot and now I'm super keen for this.
Absolutely thrilled by this one. Can't wait to get my hands on it!

Funny thing: just today I said to my colleague "you know what sucks? that nobody makes these 2.5D shooters anymore". And here it is. You're welcome.
