TheGrimLord: I said the first game, which is rather on the light side. It's also on the more boring side, tbh. You're referring to 3.
Again, you're referring to 3. Persona 1&2 were a thing, you know. And the first Persona was pretty light. It was also very boring. So this is a darker version of P1. I kind of hate that the series became so popular because now everyone just knows 3,4&5. My first exposure to Persona was P2 on the original PlayStation.
Catventurer: Thanks for assuming or perhaps deciding for me. If you actually played Revelations Persona, as I did, then you would know that the game is not exactly hugs and kittens. The game may be referred to as being lighter than the main line Shin Megami Tensei games, but that statement is true for all Persona series games and really not saying much of anything. They're all still pretty dark when you start comparing them to non-MegaTen games that were released around the same time, such as how a contemporary of Revelations Persona would have been Final Fantasy 7.
And I stand by my prior comment about going to Tartarus just to dance being the only thing not dark when it comes to Persona.
The remake for Persona 1 on the PSP wasn't very dark at all. It was fairly boring. Yes, MegaTen is obviously darker. I remember when the writer of the MegaTen books would come on X and answer questions. I learned so much about the whole series that way. And Tartarus was certainly not about dancing. I remember it as a rather bleak hellhole where the characters had limited time to move through it. An absolute pain in the ass.
