Altheia: The Wrath of Aferi is a fantasy adventure game – and it’s coming soon on GOG!

Experience a thrilling fantasy adventure inspired by the works of Studio Ghibli and Studio Chizu, where reluctant duo Lili and Sadi must learn to work together to survive the journey ahead.

After losing her mother to an ancient evil, Lili doesn’t want anything to do with her mother’s legacy of being a Guardian. However, when Lili rescues a Monk-in-training named Sadi, the latter urges her to revive the traditional partnership of Guardians and Monks and help him save their home from the mysterious corrupting Void.

Wishlist it now!
Looks interesting, to the wishlist, seems like it will release in a few days, 21 of August, that's quite nice.
While I'm not entirely opposed to this game, I also have to say: it looks like a mash-up of half a dozen other games, I played over the years.
Seems to me that calling it "adventure" does it a disservice...

These days the definition of "adventure" game seems to be just "a game in which things happen", which makes a super vague, basically meaningless term. I'm not sure to what degree it's a general thing and to what degree it's just GOG, where genres and tags have been a mess for a long time now.

But it seems, everyone is using term they define slightly differently and as a result all the terms are kind of drifitng, loosely anchored to "vibes" or marketing fads more than definitions. I still don't know what a "boomer shooter" is. I have no clue anymore what makes some games "cozy" but not others. Just about anything might end up being called an RPG. It's a mess and there seems to be no way to clean it up.

It's a general thing. gg.deals lists one of the genres as 'Sports'. I actually don't know how a human looks at this and thinks it's a sports game. Maybe it was the still shot of some Lara Croft-style underwater swimming that did it?

GOG and gg.deals also both tag it as 'Funny' (and gg.deals adds 'Comedy'), when a game based around a young woman 'haunted by the loss of her mother to an ancient evil' doesn't strike me as particularly fertile ground for bringing the laughs.

None of this is to take away from the game which looks like it could be good.
