its called "early access" where basically you buy the game and ideally get to assist the developers in developing the game and reporting issues.

its a mixed system and has resulted in great games but its had more failures then successes at this point.
As stated, it's become something of a confusing norm to accept games in development that many not actually reach the finish line, but to also charge upmarket prices for the privilege of being a bug tester/QA staff/feedback panel.

Like Starbound; which is currently moribund unless the devteam have a breakthough on the Xbox port and was gutted on release, Windforge; which was stillborn, Graveyard Keeper; having the gall to lampshade it's incompletion, Block'hood; some avant garde neighborhood thing that feels like an alpha. Forager; a few passes to retune the mechanics would be nice, and so on.

Then there's Factorio, charging 30$ where I can't exactly see the 30$.

Exactly my point, actually. What makes it fully released?

When the dev says it is? look I get that Early Access has been a real mixed bag, but I found Factorio worth the money since day one, but it appeals to me.
