Leroux: To be played before or after Prince of Qin?

triock: I think it doesn't really matter. ;)
I see, thanks!

I just noticed Seal of Evil does not list Win 11 as supported, so I guess this game has an expiration date and should be played within the next two years? So much for "Making games last forever" ... ;)

Has anyone got Dangerous Waters running on Win11? Regardless of the compability adjustments, I just get a black screen.

Do you have any third-party applications running like rivatuner or trying run the game on two monitors? I know rivatuner stop a lot old games from working.

Edit: Game stated fine for me on Windows 11

688(I) Hunter Killer is a great simulator- I worked in anti-submarine warfare for the first 6 years of my time in the military and the game is about as good as it gets. I have the boxed original, it was published under EA's Jane's label. I wonder if anyone bought the rights to any of the other excellent Jane's titles?

No, I don't have any third-party applications running. There is a wrapper which should fix the game newer systems on PC Gaming Wiki, but this also didn't work.
Amazing couple of Subsims. One of them a pure polished classic, deep and still playable in its own right. In fact 688i Hunter killer does have some interesting features not present in their sequels. It has soul. The later iterations are objectivelly superior sims but something was lost. The core is already there

And Dangerous Waters, the pinnacle of Nuclear Submarine Simulators. The modern evolution of Jane's 688i Hunter killer. These and Cold Waters are unique.

Between both games Sonalysts created Sub Command and Fleet Command. I expect seeing those also available on GOG eventually. In fact all of them form part of a Naval Warfare pack sold on Steam

Sub Command could be perceived as redundant compared with Dangerous Waters, because DW offers all SC do but more and better excepting the single missions and the SC campaign. Personally I prefer the SC campaign compared with the DW one, but the DW campaign is much more replayable and dynamic, making use of some features implemented in the DW engine. Or the quick missions option, not available in SC ( anyways I remember porting easily the campaigns and Sub Command missions into DW. The formats are compatible )

And Fleet command, a tactical real time wargame, easy to use but hardcore in concept. Similar interface to Dangerous Waters but instead only one platform you manage a Fleet. It was similar to the more modern deep and expensive CMANO from Matrix, Slitherine

Learning 688i Hunter Killer or Dangerous Waters from Scratch is an experience. A lost art.
