The "funny" thing is that there seems to be contradictions between the article and the addendum.

In the article it is said :

"Son contenu est tout à fait inapproprié, peu importe l’âge"

Which can be translated to

"Its content is totally inappropriate regardless of age"

or

"Je veux demander au gouvernement de légiférer ce qui rentre au Québec. Est-ce qu’on peut émettre des recommandations? Est-ce qu’on doit exiger une façon pour démontrer qu’on a 18 ans? Est-ce qu’on peut dire on ne veut pas de ce jeu-là?"

"I want to ask the government to regulate what enter in Quebec. Can we specify recommendations ? Can we require a way to prove we are 18 years old ? Can we say that we don't want this game?"

But in the addendum it is said says :

"À la suite de notre reportage, la directrice générale du Centre Cyber-Aide, Cathy Tétreault, a précisé qu'elle n'a pas exigé, demandé ou appelé à interdire le jeu Cyberpunk2077."

"Following our article the director of the Cyber help center, Cathy Tétreault has precised that she didn't require, ask or call for the game Cyberpunk 2077 to be banned"

That's the usual double language that is often used and was used even in Switzerland a couple of years ago when they wanted to ban all 16+ games, "We never wanted to ban anything we just want to "raise attention" but if, by accident of course, we managed to pass a law totally forbidding it we won't complain either"

ChrisGamer300: What the fuck is going on in the world ? i have not heard of this but somebody needs to shut up these pro censorship and ban happy buffoons. Typical organizations treating people even adults like kids and telling them what to buy and do, to that i say fuck off.
There's always been censorship happy government types. They come from both ends of the political spectrum too. I remember liberal Tipper Gore freaking out about rap music in the 90s, and conservative Glen Beck insisting we ban pornography and Grand Theft Auto. Some people will always think "sick filth is corrupting the kids" and want it banned.

Yes i'm well aware of that but i can't shake off the feeling that this crap happens much more frequently now than before, atleast it feels that way and i don't care which side spouts censor and banning nonsense either, if they are calling for it then push back against it because we don't need assholes in suits, self righteous activists or government types making the desicions for us atleast not me.

I don't want this turned into a discussions of no laws, rules though because i do believe that a society must be regulated one or another but for desicions of our daily lives and those who would take these choices away, they can go jump of a cliff.

You'll have to forgive me though but i get cranky real fast when talking about this stuff hah.

In games or anything else they(tptb) always try to use kids(or other vulnerable groups) as a crutch to get their will passed into law.

In this case the motive for the outburst seems to be the current trend of sexual-identity politics or somesuch (rather than the conservative old-school "Doom makes our children schoolshooters and is anti-Christian"):

According to the first images and information transmitted on Cyberpunk 2077, she believes that this game broadcasts images harmful to the sexual education of young people and to women's rights.
Maybe she had read the earlier arguments about the "transsexual person with a woody"-advertisement in the game.

Anyway, I am pretty sure this just increases CP2077 sales in Quebec and elsewhere.

EDIT: I just keeps amazing me how left-wing "liberals" in the western world seem to have become the new conservatives, wanting more banning of things, and legislation over what people can say (or even dictate what one has to say, like the pronoun legislation attempts in Canada). I guess it doesn't matter who is in power, they want the power to control things, including banning and shit. Power does corrupt, even the so-called liberals.

falloutttt: Why in Quebec ? I'm from Quebec, this freaking sucks. :(

Are we considered less mature in Quebec or something ? wtf!

roelani: https://ici.radio-canada.ca/nouvelle/1707295/jeu-video-violence-sexuelle-cyberpunk2077-cyber-aide?depuisRecherche=true

If you’re wondering.

I hope this gets buried and nothing happens. Already have a VPN, I was just hoping we weren’t heading straight into Baby’s First Firewall with banning sale of digital entertainment with arguably mature content even if it’s rated appropriately.

Thanks, Cathy. My 35+ year old ass needed to have you looking after its delicate sensibilities.

EDIT: She must’ve caught some flak cause the article has been amended. Nothing but pointless waffling.

THANKS, CATHY.
Lol, she said no matter how old you are, this game is bad for you. lol lol lol

Anyways, thanks for the link. I don't think anyone will take this lady seriously.

roelani: Hey, CDPR.
Just saw on the local news that some outraged Karen is lobbying to have Cyberpunk2077 banned in Quebec. :/
Would that sort of ridiculous busybody meddling influence digital sales? Would you guys be required by law to refund pre-orders? Is there *anything* we can do to avoid this madness?
avatar
timppu: I wouldn't worry if I were you. A ban in Quebec probably doesn't affect your right to buy the game in UK.

However, I do agree Quebec should ban "Karen" from buying the game.

timppu: Well, Canada is whacked. Didn't you have that ruckus there over how it would be punishable by law not to call someone with the pronoun that they want to be called, like a hir, heirs, hurrah, gööör or an Apache Attack Helicopter? The thing that made Peterson famous when he opposed the legislation?
No idea. Me, I live in Quebec. It's part of Canada but we speak french here. English is barely the second language here. And I'm originally from Russia. So yeah...

falloutttt: No yeah, I understand, the world of late has lost it's mind. But of all the games out there, to jump on Cyberpunk2077 ? I don't understand that. It's far from the most violent games out there. And why just in Quebec ? Makes me feel "special" lol
avatar
GameRager: Well supposedly there are some in-world adverts that supposedly are offensive towards some members of the lgbt, so that might be it.

And as for why Quebec...dunno....maybe someone in Quebec made it their personal virtue signaling vehicle or has a grudge against the game for some reason.
After reading that post, I think that lady don't get enough sex(or not at all) in her life, therefor spend too much time and energy "making the world a better place".

hollibolli1970: My deepest condolences. Just kidding. :D
Here in Germany we get censored left right and center and i'm sick of it.
Well, not exactly (if you are talking about games here). Games can get indexed that is correct and therefore you could only buy them if you are at least 18 but it is really rare that games actually are getting banned here. However since most publishers are aware that it's harder to sell their games if they are on the index they censor their games themselves to get a rating (most stores and digital resailers also don't want to sell any game that is on the index even though they would be allowed so after age verification). Of course the end the result is the same: you can get those games only censored or not at all ... it's sort of an indirect censoring mechanism - just wanted to elaborate on this so people don't think that Germany is by law censoring or banning games (like I said the latter is extremely rare).

Please keep it clean guys :')

My original question was simply to ask whether we could go around any ridiculous "ban" on digital games, not start a whole debate on the political leanings of the people pushing for modern censorship.

The reason WHY the ban was even brought up is immaterial. I'm legally old enough to watch violent movies and porn, I should be allowed to play a violent game with sexual themes, it's absurd to even suggest otherwise. I've never filled up my profile in the first place so I'm just gonna keep it set to UK, be ready with my VPN and screw the rest.

Peace out, friends. XXX

Will do my best on that end, friend.

Wow, two month later i get a notification of the reply. No i didn't meant only games. Thing is, if i would wrote an in depth reply, i would get banned, probably.
