Barrow Hill: Curse of the Ancient Circle is an adventure game full mystery. Somewhere deep within the woods of Cornwall a forgotten myth awakens. Use archaeology to discover that the Barrow Hill hides more than just a collection of forgotten standing stones.

Barrow Hill: The Dark Path leads you once more to the world of Druidic lore and Celtic myths. Witness Autumn Equinox on Barrow Hill, a time of great power, when the ancient standing stones are most powerful and dangerous.

Barrow Hill: Curse of the Ancient Circle and Barrow Hill: The Dark Path are both available DRM-free on GOG.COM with 50% discounts if you buy them independently and 75% off if you acquire them together. This offer lasts until 15th April, 1 PM UTC.

Gudadantza: I'd say it is some more cohesive. But the idea of gossips, notes and information in a non linear way is very similar. To me it is not a bad thing. I always enjoyed constructing my idea of the story with partial information found during the gameplay. It is a kind of open endedless approach in an adventure I loved.
But I think yes. It can be some more cohesive in story and puzzles. But if yo disliked Dark fall for the reasons noted, probably you will find he same design/intention in this game.
The problem was the signal to noise ratio. A lot of the notes just weren't interesting for me, but I had to comb through them in case a hint appeared. You also didn't collect the notes if I remember correctly, which meant either taking screenshots or having to go back if you ever forgot something important (assuming you could remember where the note you wanted to look at was). I don't mind having some notes for the world-building, but here it really felt a tad eccessive, since there were quite a few different characters mentioned.

If the game does better on that front, trying it out might be worthwhile.

MarkoH01: I just finished the first one and you will collect a few items of which you don't know why you even should collect them - however the story and your quest will become quite clear pretty early in the game. The notes and books around are mostly about that quest but some also are meant to deepen the historic background and make things feel more real. Not one puzzle was illogical to me but sometimes I simply failes to see some items or did not notice certain hotspots. The atmosphere was great (reminded me a bit of "The Fog") but I never even saw the evil (should happen randomly but it never did for me). Can't say much about the second because I haven't played it yet :)
I can get behind a few notes being there for the sake of building the atmosphere or expand on the lore of the game, so long as it doesn't turn into a treasure hunt to find something meaningful in them. I have issues when there are more notes about minor stuff that isn't too gripping, than useful hints or info about the main plot. For example, I played the first 3 games in the Dracula series, and I quite like all of them (even with their flaws). There are some meandering notes, sure, but for the most part, you are reading about things that are important to the narrative and/or the gameplay.

Yes, at least for the first one - most notes are about the story or providing important clues. In fact some clues are there multiple times just to make sure that you'll find them :) Not really much that has nothing to do with the game.

Sounds good to me! At this price, I can probably take a stab at it without feeling too bad, anyway. Thanks for the replies. ^_^

@GOG: The discount is not working anymore. Not the 50% off discount and not the 75% discount off. Did I miss something or is it already the 15th?

MarkoH01:
You´re right, i think that it has been a mistake because the games were into the midweek sale. I was planning bought them and i was surprised too.
Wow, very excited to have these here at last! Not to everyone's taste but still.
I was planning to buy them today too but I see that the discount is no more. Will that be fixed or was the expiration date of the offer a mistake?
Me too - II thought they were supposed to be on sale till the 15th....

mwb1100: Interesting sales model:

Buy one, total cost $3.99.

Buy both, total cost $3.98
Sorry to bother, but what do you mean $3.99 ? The price isn't $7.99 ?

The games are (were?) on sale. 50% off if you buy one, 75% off if you buy both.

$7.99 normal price, $3.99 with 50% off or $1.99 each if you're buying both, hence the $3.98 comment.

Bummer - GOG killed this deal early. What was it about? 'Offer lasts until 15th April' but stops working on 11th April.

I just contacted someone from GOG - let's hope they will fix this soon so people interested in the game(s) can buy them without any problems.

I have just been told that the information has been forwarded. However I've also been told that today and tomorrow are holidays in Poland so we might have to wait until the day after tomorrow. At least they are aware. I will post here the moment I get a reply.

Good job Marko.

Noone should miss these games, especially at this bundled price.
