So you may have noticed Gog have broken the chat. After poking about (changing the url of the domain in the iframe to what it should be) I found the attached chat box.

So new revamped chat box seems to be incoming.

This should be interesting.

So preliminary playing around with it suggests the changes are:

They've added an 'open conversation' list down the side instead of a list of everyone you have chatted with.
You can add new people to this list from a menu of everyone you have chatted with (plus friends)
Unfortunately the list doesn't seem to be saved between refreshes of the page but that could be too do with the fact it's currently bugged anyway.
They've also combined the room list and the message window into one, which should make things less complicated and quicker (also means I'm going to need to rework all my chat functions in the script)

I can't see a lot else different other than formatting stuff.

Possibly? I've never really used the Galaxy chat so I don't know what it looks like...

My guess is that there won't be a new chat for months. They will first "test it" thoroughly on Galaxy and announce that it might come back to the website soon™, eventually™, within some weeks™ or rather sooner than later™.

They're removing the chat system altogether in order to combat spam.

We're getting a lot of "classic" material on GOG lately, so much that it's beginning to remind me of them good ol' times... might be the right time to buy a top hat, you know, for whenever you want to download classic installers or have a classic chat :P.
