As we step into the month of June, we wanted to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate something very important: Pride Month.

Pride Month serves as a reminder of the progress we have made towards creating a more equitable and inclusive society, as well as the work that still lies ahead. It’s an opportunity for us to reflect on the importance of celebrating and embracing the diverse identities and experiences that enrich our lives with different perspectives. At GOG, we firmly believe that diversity and inclusion are not just buzzwords, but fundamental principles that drive innovation, foster collaboration, and enable us to simply grow as people, as well.

To celebrate Pride Month, our queer team members selected the variety of games containing LGBTQAI+ themes and characters, all available on GOG. Inclusive environments and diverse characters create a safe space to have fun and express yourself for all kinds of gamers!

This time, we decided to choose a slightly different approach, to make browsing LGBTQAI+ games much easier; instead of just one collection, we created a whole page and divided it into categories.

Among such, we’ve created a list of games containing masculine romance representation – we’ve gathered all the games we could think of that include romance representation between male characters. Whether it’s Kerry Eurodyne in Cyberpunk 2077, Kim Kitsuragi in Disco Elysium, or Nailsmith in Hollow Knight, we tried our best to get them all! If you have any other recommendations that slipped our attention though, feel free to share them with us.

Another category you’ll notice is, of course, a set of games containing female romance representation. Through the emotional story of Unpacking, walking alongside protagonists of Life is Strange, getting to know Undyne in Undertale, and even more – we’re sure they’ll all steal your hearts!

In Choose-Your-Gender category, we’ve gathered games that allow you to play around and choose your gender representation in the virtual world freely. It’s a great way to explore your own identity, as well as try to put yourself in other people’s shoes – all while being in the safety of your own game, NPCs, without an ounce of worry about judgement.

Last but not least, we’re proud to present a list of games featuring transgender characters. Representation of trans people in video games is just as important as in any other media – and we couldn’t be happier to see the number of them slowly growing. Meet Claire ( Cyberpunk 2077), Sam ( Normal Lost Phone), Jackie ( Night in the Woods), and many more!

Let’s celebrate Pride Month – and together, make love last forever!

Lodium: For instance being crititcal to religion have newer been considered as hate spech
avatar
dtgreene: (Assuming you mean "never" and not "newer")

That's actually not true. Some people, mainly those of the religion in question, do consider criticism of their religion to be hate speech (typically called "blasphemy"), and that's been the case throughout history.
im not talking about Religous organizations
religous organizatins can be biased so any crituqe against them can by some of those be considered as hatespeach

Thats also the case with other activists/groups or humans in general

Magmarock: Aren't you guys in Poland. Isn't Poland a mostly religious country with conservative values?
avatar
Gylfe: Theyve outsourced a lot of these positions to other countries and have offices in different areas, like CDPR having a dev team in Boston for example.
Don't they also have an office in California (I vaguely recall seeing photos of the office being painted in Cyberpunk 2077 colours)

Lodium: Insults are not hate speach either
avatar
mechmouse: Words targeting hate at a specific to a group (I won't list them, but it should be obvious the type of words I mean) are not insults.

They are hate speech.

Those words are often the precursor to violent or abuse actions.

But even when they're not, that threat of actual physical harm is imbued in the words.

If you use that words you know you are going to cause fear and upset.
No, i disagree
If i say Putin (president of Russia) is stupid and a moron
im not doing hatespeach against him
It can simply be that i dont like his actions or his personality
And i dont think he cares about fear

The demand that People shoud like all people and in all intances talk nice things about them
is impossible annyway and is a riddiculuos concept in argument for humane/moral standards
Alot of people was not called out for wishing putin dies or that he goes to jail/burn in hell etc so the war ends
But i guess double standars/double morals and all that

I think the difference is it would be hate speach if you said he is a moron because he's Russian (or because of some other specific characteristic like disability or sexuality).

You mean "slurs"?

For instance if i say/or said that i wish all the germans nazis who are beyond hope and not willing to change personality/idea
to die woud i be wrong then?

They were German nazi,s so i dont wish them to die and we shoud only speak nice things about them even if they commited horrible things?

Do i understand you correctly?

If one doesn't see the difference with criticism of an individual for their own actions and attitudes vs. that of "broad brush" insults against a person because of superficial characteristics... well, those are simply not the same things.

No but I suspect you are deliberately misunderstanding me. If not, what I mean has been described very well by lorax1284.

Waifu4Life: Without going into the "We at brand" meme, what exactly do you do to support them besides saying you support them? Do you donate to any LGBT organisation during pride month or something?
In the current climate (where the perception is that ant-queer bigots hold outsized influence w.r.t. the success of a company or a brand) they are doing a lot articulating their support, making them the subject of newly-empowered-feeling bigots who would tend to harass or attempt to intimidate them.

Target said "We're sorry, please don't hate us!" ABInbev said "Actually we don't like the gays at all, we didn't mean it, not really, look at our pretty horses instead!"

Any company willing to risk loss of revenue to make a point (although I still believe the anti-queer bigots are noisy, and apart from lower sales of TERRIBLE BEER, aren't actually going to affect anything)

Thanks to GOG for stating your support publicly, as obviously there is risk to doing so.

Yes, but I couldn't think of the word
Nice GOG! I like this sale for it's theme!

The question is do you have a problem with their Germanness or their Naziness? If only the latter, why even mention the former at all?

DemonKiller49: Stuff about pride being bad.
avatar
HappyPunkPotato: I think "pride" is an unfortunate word to use. It's more about "not being ashamed".
Yep. It's not "pride" in the sense of self-satisfaction about one's achievements, it's simply a refusal to be made to feel ashamed. The opposite of shame is pride.
I'm also not ashamed to play adult games but feel no need to run around and wave flags. Others might and I am ok with that.

Also for what I am interested in, some people feel the need to protest again on GOG when there is a special sale for it.
Some of them are the same peopel that come to this thread and say "if you don't like it, just ignore it".

Whatever happened to "Live and let live" :(

What do adult games have to do with LGBT+ people?
