RizzoCuoco: My two cents on the topic:
Gog/CDPR offered the Quadra Vigilante as a pre-order bonus enticing buyers to buy at the regular retail price instead of a sale. There was no mention of this pre-order bonus having to be claimed via Galaxy/My Rewards. For the people (me) who refuse to use Galaxy this made the bonus null and void as I could not use it. However, this item was indeed planned to be a standalone offline installer because there is an entry in our orders and settings for this item. This is also evidenced by the fact Clownski said basically...ooops, sorry, we are working on it because we don't know how to get that item into the game that way. No other game here needs galaxy to get their pre-order bonuses. Ghostrunner 2 for an example....has offline installers for those bonuses.

MarkoH01: That is exactly what I think as well.

RizzoCuoco: Edit: The ultimate Edition...well...2.1 has all the items in the game from Prime, Twitch, and so forth. However, this still did not and does not make the pre-order bonus fiasco fixed.
avatar
MarkoH01: Does it really? Is it still gated behind optional Galaxy?
As far as I can tell, these Twitch and Prime items are indeed in the game. If you boot version 2.1 and press the corresponding key to open My Rewards, grayscale images of the items appear. if you hover over them, they say can be obtained in game. In contrast, the items that were unlocked by actually launching Galaxy and claiming them will be in full color.

Edit: Game was booted directly from .exe with Galaxy being uninstalled. I know that the User.gls file is responsible for keeping tack of MyRewards, but the last item I claimed was from Prime. These grayscale images of the other Twitch items were not updated by opening Galaxy, but rather with the new install of 2.1 Thus, the game says they are there, but I'm not going to test it. too much time and too much effort. Hell, I've been trying to play this game for 3 years, and it's still broken as of 2.1...worse even.

Adding my support to this thread. I Consider GOG having activation servers for content from CDPR games and not providing a workaround to be a very bad practice.

No it doesn't, not access-wise. You just don't have a clean install and have thus experienced a Galaxy-contaminated result. Here's a screenshot from a fresh Galaxy-Free machine. I hope everyone looks at the game version and the error message.

Again, unless you do it on a fresh machine that NEVER had Galaxy nor Cybperunk 2077's saves, you will not have a proper test, which can undermine this request for offline installers. User.gls file is just a small part of many. Galaxy hands over some kind of a "Pass" to the game on that machine that persists, even if Galaxy is uninstalled and the game is reinstalled. This pass will regenerate your User.gls file with all entitlements too. I haven't discovered where that pass is stored yet. I'll need to check the registry and AppData for any signs.

We already know that launching the game via Galaxy once is enough to keep said rewards unlocked for that machine forever. That's how they try to justify this whole behaviour. "You only need Galaxy once, it's not a big deal". In your case, you already had this "Galaxy used at least once" pass on your machine and so even with Galaxy uninstalled and game updated offline, the pass persisted and so you saw the new grey Prime items. None of the Twitch items, nor the missing Phantom Liberty items have appeared grey though. In fact you, are missing the Twitch category entirely, so it's save to assume they won't be unlocked at a later date for free.

Anyway, the problem comes from game preservation aspect. The online authentication system works today. How about 15 years from now, when they inevitably decide that maintaining this old authentication service/server no longer makes financial sense? No online service stays online forever, nor are we going to keep the same PC forever, and so this is the problem. When we decide to reinstall Cyberpunk 2077 15 years from now on a new machine, this content may very well be lost.

As for Prime content being allegedly obtainable in game, this only covers one category out of four. Prime. It remains to be verified too... What about Twitch Rewards? Twitch items have no such information on hover. What about Vanilla Rewards? What about Phantom Liberty Rewards? What about the Pre-Order car? Heck the Pre-Order Car can also be obtained in-game. The actual Pre-order bonus is that we get this car for free. The same goes for these Prime weapons then, though again, that's only prime. One category out of four. We still need offline installers for each and every piece of this content!

If you want a true test. Grab a new physical or virtual machine. Do not install Galaxy. Do not transfer saves. Do not set up OneDrive, as it may transfer your saves for you, depending on whether you had any folder redirection set up. Install Cyberpunk and PL via offline 2.1 installers. You will get the same error as me.

Ok...I tested it out on a virtual machine, and you are correct. CDPR lies again. However, you need to calm down a bit (a lot). I never said for a fact that the items were there. I stated that they appeared to be there, but I wasn't going to check. I didn't undermine dick, drama master. You are a bit too animated there. Calm it down about 12 notches. lol I think now we actually know something concrete and provable and have grounds upon which to stand. Most people think the items are in the game. Now, we know better. for a fact.. There are more important things in the world than some DLC, friend. Namaste or something. You didn't need to have a mini meltdown and personally write a book. I get where you are coming from but....too dramatic. Also...those grayed out items are the Twitch items. Gotta remember Prime (Amazon) owns Twitch. You could have instead said, "Nope........didn't work for me...never had Galaxy installed. These are my results." smh.

As for an offline installer...wouldn't take much effort to do. The willingness to do just isn't there. It would only really require an unlock type file that we see around here at between 5-10MB that is commonly used for other games. GOG has turned into GAG. It's really all there is to it. This is not really like the Hitman fiasco to me at all because that was "someone else's" game. Were dealing with A CDPR game. They don't take advice, they hide criticism, and you get what they want to give.

If I have overreacted, then I think you overreacted to my overreaction, with an addition of swearwords, my friend.
I apologise for my part, if it appeared aggressive.

My goal was to provide a very clear description of what is going on and to remove any false sense of security that ambiguity may create. Otherwise many may stop contributing to the thread, thinking the matter is sorted, only to have a Surprised Pikachu Face a decade later.

The grey Prime items are not Twitch items. Twitch gets its own section. The grey items are most likely upcoming Prime rewards. As for Amazon owning Twitch, you are correct, however my point was to clarify that as far as Cyberpunk 2077 is concerned, these item sets are treated separately. Please see my attachment for all items that could have been legitimately unlocked up to the time of this post.

Again, my goal is not to antagonise. My goal is to erase any confusion. Otherwise the opposition will use our mistakes against us. So I once again apologise if this comes off as aggressive.

Of course it wouldn't take much effort. 3rd party developers and publishers generate offline installers for DLCs and Pre-Order bonuses all the time. CDPR can absolutely do the same on their own platform. They just don't want to, because they clearly do not care about the future, only about marketing tactics right now.

Yes, CDPR get to be held to a higher standard, whether they like it or not.

vv221: With trust… or with DRM.

For a store pretending to distribute only DRM-free content, the choice should be obvious.
