Which auto-start functions would I need to disable in CCleaner to prevent those programs from starting?

I dont recall ccleaner having any program control - though ive not updated in some time.
I presume disabling them in msconfig.exe (i can only guess you're on windows) didnt do anything - never did for me!
at which point, I can only suggest a firewall with full program control (the much disliked zone alarm is very good at it - no adobe spam bollocks for me!).

Yeah it has a startup tool, I can see several entries for Toshiba and Adobe, just not sure which ones are important and not.

Paid version of CCleaner? No. It says FREE clearly in the image I posted.
I'm not an expert in Toshiba or Adobe but I'd start by disabling (not deleting)

- AdobeAAMUpdater
- Acrobat Assistant (the name is new but it seems is the old useless Acrotray.exe)
- ToshibaAppPlace if you are not using Toshiba apps.

Oh, missed that (just downloading the current version and didnt see the features listed - hence I asked!)
I don't use any Adobe programs, but from what I see in that screenshot, none of those look like they need to run on start up. You can disable them, and see if the programs run fine, if not, re-enable them one at a time to see what does the trick.
The ones named updater and assistant seem like a safe bet in any case.

I'm not familiar with the Toshiba ones, but my take in such cases is disable and see what breaks and re-enable as necessary, though I'd leave TODDMain.

No problem. BTW, they completely changed the interface in version 5.00 so don't be suprirsed at the way it looks. It seems to work basically the same though.

I personally disabled the option for "system monitoring" function which I think they added recently.
Adobe's updaters are pure evil and they just won't die easily. Try this to kill AAM (Adobe Application Manager) updates:
