as CBS and Viacom merger was announced

thus seems like it's best time to get remaining good StarTrek games to appear on GOG
as both CBS and Viacom's Paramount Pictures had certain rights, now under one license owner
It would be good. I don't know how many more good Star Trek games are out there but I'm curious. I find it surprising that the licence isn't more leaning towards videogames nowadays.
Would be nice, I'm not much of a Star Trek fan nowadays, but would still be interested in Final Unity and Elite force.
I think many (but not all) of the major ones left that folks want are Activision ones.
https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Activision

via that link "Following a series of lawsuits, started in 2003, between Activision and Viacom, Paramount Pictures' parent company, Activison dropped the license to produce games based on the Star Trek universe. The company has been quoted as stating that it had no plans to produce further Star Trek games in the foreseeable future for the Playstation 3 or Xbox 360."

In any case obviously I hope they show up for folks that want them!

What about the DS9: The Fallen one? Do they even own the complete rights to that one? Iirc a bunch of lawyers or such made it.
The only Star Trek game I need in my life is Klingon Honor Guard.

A ton. Star Trek was actually pretty lucky with its games, especially when Activision had the license. Away Team, Voyager Elite Force, Bridge Commander and the first Armada are all great. Elite Force 2 and Armada 2 less so, but still fun. I don't think I ever playe Hidden Evil beyond a demo, it seemed a rather clunky action/adventure hybrid but I'd still gladly give it a shot.

Anyway, since I played those Activision games I'm actually more interested in other titles like Final Unity, Borg and Klingon Honor Guard, that I never got a chance to try.

Breja: ...Armada 2 less so...
You shut your mouth! ;)

I really want to try a certain Babylon 5 total conversion mod for Armada 2. I for one, would be hyped for Armada 2.

Only time will tell if that merger is beneficial.

As for the games, I would like to see Klingon Academy released on GOG.

It was ok, I just liked the first one better. I think it had a better story and a greater emphasis on it. The intro is still a great cinematic.

DS9 notwithstanding, war isn't really what Trek is primarly about, so RTS is not a natural fit for the setting. I feel like Armada 1 really managed to justify itself and be both a very good RTS and a very good Trek game. Armada 2 on the other hand is still a good RTS but feels more like a generic RTS with Trek painted over it.

At least that's how I felt about them, I don't know if I'm making much sense :D

I remember that one. It was fun to play with for a couple days, but not much to it really. It only made me wish even more that there were proper B5 games.

A kindred soul... :(
Oh man, Armada 1&2, Birth of the Federation.. Gog has to get them.

An exceptionally underrated FPS. Great times.

Wasn't one of those games (Voyager Elite Force?) just a re-skin of the preceding one (Away Team?) ?
It was a good game, whatever it was (I finished it a couple of times) but that's a cheap trick, so I didn't buy the reskin.

Uhm... no. Entirely different games. Elite Force is a FPS, Away Team is a tactical RTS, basically a Star Trek version of Commandos.
