Ahh, I practically grew up on Cartoon Network, though I watched most of it in my early high school years. Let's see...

Dexter's Laboratory – my all-time favourite cartoon. I liked the SF theme, and could even identify somewhat with Dexter's strange mannerisms. I loved his catchphrases with the word "science" in them. And the idea of a kid having a giant lab hidden inside his home with oblivious parents and annoying sister was hilarious. I didn't particularly like the spin-offs – "Dial M for Monkey" and "The Justice Friends" – very much.

Cow and Chicken – my second favourite. In retrospect, pretty daring for a children's cartoon. Situations that children find themselves in, but with a surreal and naughty twist. I liked the episode in the school canteen, where every meal was made entirely of ketchup – an episode of the modern fast food nation that takes critique to ridiculous proportions. "I Am Weasel" was also good, but didn't quite hit the right note as C&C.

Powerpuff Girls – so-so, but that show yielded one of the creepiest cartoon villains ever produced – HIM! The tranny devil outfit, the constant echo in the voice, the sparse pink "room" that the character inhabits, and how his voice alternates from seductive sweetness to demonic rage almost randomly. I've watched some YouTube videos of Him, and he's still creepy! Other villains from the show paled in comparison.

Johnny Bravo – he was most of my friends' favourite, but I liked only a few episodes and thought others were "meh".

Ed, Edd and Eddy – the themes and the art direction appealed to me, but I felt the plot was lacking in most cases.

Scooby Doo – what's up with that cartoon? All episodes follow exactly the same patterns, while committing the same tropes. Only the monster changes.

Elmofongo: You are evil to say Dexter's Lab sucked and Samurai Jack was forgettable :P

Dexter's Lab's first episode was Dexter getting bullied by jerks using dodgeballs and Dexter gets revenge by making a giant mech armed with Dodgeball weapons and fucking them up.

THAT IS AN AWESOME ANTI BULLY EPISODE!!!

...But yeah I watched Metalocalypse (Bought 2 CDs). And I have seen Moral Orel, fuck Clay Puppington, may he ironically burn in hell.

NoNewTaleToTell: Heh, yeah that's a nice message but I just never connected with that show. Different tastes and all that.

I felt sorry for everybody in Morel Orel by the time it was coming to a close, I really wish it hadn't gotten canceled but it went out strong. I can't remember what they replaced it with but it was probably more of that live action junk, worst part of Adult Swim I tell ya!

Venture Bros and Boondocks were two other shows I really enjoyed, but I haven't watched any TV in a couple years so I don't know if they're still on or if they declined. To me Metalocalypse really started to decline around the third season, maybe it got better.

Oh and Home Movies! Home Movies was awesome.
I like Venture Bros and Boondocks the most, they are my absolute favs of Adult Swim.

Elmofongo: Adventure Time, Regular Show, Steven Universe, and Gumball will never be even equal to Dexter's Lab, Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack, and Courage the Cowardly Dog among others.

The only good show that came out in recent years was Sym-Bionic Titan and they cancelled it in the first season :(
Preach it! Something like ed n edd n eddy alone is better then any new show CN produced in like the last decade.

thejimz: Space Ghost Coast to Coast was CN's first original cartoon (1994!), and it's still one of their greatest. Those first few seasons were weirder and more subversive than anything South Park ever did.
Loved that show. Who would have thought a 4th rate cartoon could be redone into something completely nuts and successful.
I think the biggest issue that I have with some of CN's (and possibly other networks too) new cartoons is that they have become somewhat political. Cartoons are about having fun, not making a statement. I remember (retrospectively of course, I don't think I caught them as a young kid) cartoons making fun of issues in the past, like Grandpa Boris requesting that somebody get him Dr. Kevorkian on the Rugrats.

I just think that making political statements makes the work a bit seated in terms of time: works like The Rabbit of Seville and others made no such outwards attempts and I think that has contributed to their timelessness.

AnimalMother117: One of my favorite gifts was the first three seasons of SG C2C on DVD. It is so odd and yet brilliant (best displayed in "The Brilliant Number One") at the same time. One of the funniest shows definitely. Many shows try and don't usually succeed at the weird/out there yet subtle enough so as not to be too out there vibe this show hit after a few episodes.

thejimz: A fellow SGC2C fan! I agree completely, a lot of shows that try to be out-there just end up not being engaging or funny. Space Ghost pulled it off perfectly and not many people give it credit for that.

Also, I actually hadn't seen "The Brilliant Number One" before you mentioned it, but I went and looked it up just now. It's absolutely consciousness-altering. How were they allowed to air stuff this insane?! I love it.
The first time I saw that episode I was really sick and had left the DVD player on when I woke up at some random point in that episode. My confused state of mind got even more confused.

"Snatch" is also among the best. "Fire Ant," "Lawsuit," and "Hipster" are among personal favorites again. Just a great show.

I know! Who could have come up with something that insane? It blows my mind.

Lol. I'll have to check those out. Three of my favorites are "Knifin' Around", "Lovesick" and "Transcript". I've seen a few of the ones you mentioned before, but I need to go find the rest.

I remember watching Cartoon Network a few times, when they had classic Tom and Jerry cartoons on. Really the only thing they had on that was worth watching, everything else was garbage.

Older cartoons you listed are meh.

Gumball is awesome, Adventure Time is great as well. Regular show is good too but not awesome.
So I enjoy recent Cartoon Network much more than older ones.

I really like Cartoon Network shows and I also think Cartoon Network are huge dicks for censoring their shows outside US.
Btw, did anyone see these shows?
- Avatar, The Last Airbender
- Rick and Morty
- Steven Universe
- Wander Over Yonder
- Regular show
- Over the garden wall (musical?)

Are they good or average?
Too childish or interesting also for adults?

As paramenters, for me:
- Gumball is ok: it has a strange nice style, but the stories are too simple and silly.
- Adventure Time is cool and originally weird. I like it, but it's not exactly mature either.
- Archer seems funny and for adults. The style is good, even if sometimes the characters are a bit stiff.

Everyone seen Avatar The Last Airbender.
Well, it's been eras since I watched Cartoon Network.

The one thing about western animation that made me incredibly sad in the last few years was the cancelation of the new Thundercats show before they could wrap up the story. :(

The same goes for the Masters of the Universe one from early 2000s.
