Finally the date all Carmageddon fans have been waiting for 15 years.
The news that the original developer (Stainless Games) had re-acquired the rights from Square Enix made fans very happy back in Summer 2011.
Then at June 2012 the game was funded successfully through Kickstarter.

And being almost 3 years in development and a few unplanned in 2012 events (i.e. they had to rewrite their own Graphics Engine almost from scratch), now we have a date set.

Been playing the game for many weeks, and despite the bugs it has (Bug reports have been sent from me and many other madmen), the classic Carmageddon fun is all there again...Multiplied!

More patches will follow of course the Gold Release of the game (at April 23rd) but we've (as a fanbase) reached a milestone!

Would post some of my C:R videos i have on youtube, but i'm on a shitty laptop and it takes ages to load pages (good rhyme)...

Kinda late. Some of the top-rated Steam reviews mention that the game's optimization is still terrible. I wonder if that will eventually change. I also wonder when will they release the DRM-Free version.
Well i kinda mentioned why it was late.

The original KS plan was to release C:R in February 2013 (with maybe a few months delay as one can hear in interviews done in late 2012), but when they struck the deal with the extra funding from Les Edgars, they decided to rewrite huge parts of their engine, so it would look at least better than what was planned originally.

On the optimisation part, i have a good middle-range PC (considered middle range back in 2012 when i bought the parts) and it runs at average 33 FPS at 1280x720.
Expect optimisation now (23rd) and in future patches, but i wouldn't expect some 300% improvement, cause the game has some heavy Tech (especially in the damage department and the detail on the inside of the cars - engines, all kinds of parts).
Will there be a DRM free ( GOG release ) ? If not then i'm not interested .

Not at the 23rd and possibly not for a few months. They'll work on the ports (Linux/Mac), finalize the Physical versions for KS, and then we'll get the gog version. Hopefully in the meantime CARMAGEDDON TDR 2000 will be released.
Unless anything has changed, the "DRM-Free" version of this game is going to have the multiplayer cut out, only the Steam version will have it.

I'm surprised GOG wouldn't encourage Stainless to use Galaxy.

Good point, hope that happens.

Assuming, they are saying the truth, the DRM-Free version will still support LAN play.

We'll be using Steamworks for our online services on PC & Mac, so we require Steam for online play. However, we can confirm that there will be a non-steam, DRM-free release available to backers at a later date that supports single player and LAN multiplayer only. Obviously, this version won't have those Steamworks features.
No GOG-release confirmed! Just read between the lines.

Emphasis mine. Besides, these guys made themselves out to be colossal steamtards even while the begging bowl was still making the rounds.

Don't worry, fronzel. The same was said with Shadowrun Returns. It was eventually released.
I've been waiting for this for so long, Carmageddon is one of my favorite franchises. I even enjoyed the infamous N64-port, played it a lot with friends in split-screen back in the days. When will Reincarnation release on Xbox One? Racing-games with split-screen is so rare on consoles these days :(

Am saving up to be able to pay the pharaonic cost of that game (and gog is not helping much, there) but, indeed, I intend to betray all my moral values for the urgency of grabbing that easy access steam drm game as soon as possible.

Because. Carma isn't a matter where rules apply.

(Seriously. There's gaming, and there's carmageddoning, which is a hobby by itself.)
